Boxer Insane
When Ginger was a puppy she was afraid of the vacuum. Now not as much but very cautious of it. Also kind of scared of plastic trash bags. One other thing that scares her is when my husband goes up in our attic and pulls down the ladder (it sort of sqeaks) she runs and hides under the kitchen table until he is finished and closed the ladder back up! Too funny!:D

Zeke hates my metal mixing bowls. I store them under the oven and whenever I pull one out my shadow is long gone. It was a joke for a while that his fur mom must have beat him with the water bowl as a pup. He has gotten over it almost all the way with a lot of coaxing and sniffing..

Quincy ferociously attacks the broom, vacuum cleaner, rake, snow shovel, and lawn mower. I have to put him in a seperate room or in the garage when I use them. The neighbors must think he is attacking a vicious intruder the way he growls and snarls. I have tried and tried to no avail to get him to like them but, alas, nothing. No when my dad came once to mow my lawn Quincy could have cared less. He just layed down and watched. So it must have to do with ME using these instruments. Perhaps he thinks they are attacking me??!!??

Duchess also hates the hair dryer. When she was little, we'd use it on her after a bath. She was OK the first couple of times, then she started "attacking" the hot air. It was so funny. Now, sometimes when I'm using it, she'll run in to look. If I'm sitting down, she'll jump at my head!

Also, when I put a new garbage bag in and I shake it to open it up, she freaks out and starts backing up. It's funny!

My 2 will go NUTS and I do mean NUTS when I bring out the hose that attaches to the vacuum cleaner. I thought it was so funny one day I was vacuuming baseboards and Ram and Lex were barking and biting at it. Well Ram got too close to the suction and got his lip sucked in. It wasnt enough suction to hurt him, and I pulled it off, but it was too funny to see his face. So he hates it now. He runs from it when I turn it on and you cant even find him until I turn it off and put it up. If I leave it out he knocks it over. Its too funny.
On a sadder note, Ram also hates papers of any kind. If you pick up one and carry it, he runs and hides. I think he was beaten with newpapers when he was young and it is really sad. We are very carefull not to freak him out though.

Jasmine hates the vacuum and Bailey hates the lawn mower. It is very funny to watch how they act when we turn either on. Bailey tries to bite the tires off the lawn mower so she is not allowed outside while either of us is mowing the lawn.

Willie hates anything with wheels - like the garbage can, wheel barrel. Whenever we roll them, he tries to eat the wheels. He barks and puts his face down in the wheel. Crazy!!

Brody is terrified by the iron cord. I usually iron by where his food bowl is and he will not eat if I am ironing. I need to move his bowl. He has even started associated the ironing board with the iron. I figured while he was eating I could take the board out, not anymore. He runs from that too. Brody is also afraid of plastic bags and is causious with the vaccuum and blow dryer.

Bosco is petrified of spray bottles and the hose. He will go as far away as possible to keep from getting when. He hates the vaccuum and the blow dryer.

Oh, I remembered another one. When Brody was a puppy, he hated the recycling truck. He would start barking and snarling as soon as it turned on the street and would not stop until it left.

Lexy has never been bothered by a thing in her life. Probably because in order to be bothered she'd have to expend some precious energy. What a lazy girl!

Bailey, on the other hand, more than makes up for her sister's failing. She hates everything. She was abused before we got her and is, subsequently, terrified of everything in the world. You name it - basketballs, laundry baskets, hula hoops, big bowls, softball mitts, vacuum, hair dryer, etc. Just this morning my hubby and I were messing around - he was begging me to bring him a towel in the shower and claiming that thieves had come and stolen it - silly boy forgot it - so I went in there with a baseball bat and said "where are those lousy thieves? let me at them!" I mean, we were really clowning and laughing. Well, I get him his stupid towel and walked out of the bathroom and there is Bailey, huddled in the corner shaking from head to toe. I guess we've discovered another instrument of abuse. I cannot describe how angry I get every time something else scares my poor baby. So, down to the floor I go reassuring her that all is well and I let her sniff the bat and chew on it a little and stand by me while I held it so she'd know she had nothing to fear from such a thing anymore. A bat. Can you imagine!!!! Those people . . . smashicon
