I bought my pup from an individual with a litter advertised in the paper. Being registered or having papers wasn't important to me, so long as I was getting a Boxer, a good companion for my family, and a protector.
A friend saw my pup and noted the bit of longer hairs protruding past the short hair, and thought maybe he was a mix-breed. What do you say? Is he right, or is this common in puppies?
When I bought my dog, I saw mom and dad, and they both looked solidly like boxers to me.
In the end, it won't affect my decision to keep the dog, but I'm curious to hear some opinions.

He looks totally boxer to me. You should have a look in the section on anatomy and physiolgy.

I am not a boxer expert but my pup had extremely short soft hair when I got him and still has. What you describe does sound a little strange. In saying that, your dog looks just like all the other gorgeous boxers I have seen - he is a real cutie.

Good morning. Sarge had/has a few longer hairs right around his neck too and he's registered. I like the longer hair. I think it's cute and fuzzy. lol By the way, your baby is gorgeous!!!
