I was hoping my Nala would stay small. She is almost 70 lbs. Her mom was 46 lbs and one of Nala's sisters is only 38 lbs. But her dad was right at 80 lbs so apparently she takes after him! No matter how big she gets, you could never convince Nala that she is anything but a cuddly lap dog!

Diabla is 15 months old and only 43 pounds. But she is now the bigger than her mom and all of her litter mates. (the beeder is a family friend and stays in touch with all of his puppy new owners). I love her being little. She is more controllable. If I need to I can pick her up. She was attacked by another dog and had to have surgery and I could carry her when I need to. Also I can not imagine a bigger dog in bed with me at night. Diabla already take up 2/3 of the room. ( She like to spread out)

Any way, my vet said that because she was on the small side she was healthy and that she would be less likely to have some of the boxer problems, like hip and joint issues.

Since Diabla is the only boxer I have every had I don't really know what a bigger boxer would be like to live with.

My understanding is that there isn't a weight requirement in the Boxer standard, but only a height requirement. Females should be 21 to 23 1/2 inches at the withers. And yes, sometimes females are more petite than their male counterparts.

Layla is 18 mos old and weighs around 48 or 49 pounds. People always comment on her size and how little she is. Boxers are only a medium size dog, I tell them. And I too love that she sits in my lap and I can pick her up and carry her to bed if she's too sleepy....Such a "little" spoiled brat...

Thumper is almost nine months old; is 21 inches tall; and weighs 44 lbs. I always get comments about her small size, but who cares - good things come in small packages! ~ Cathy

Poohsmom--I'd love to see pics of your doggies together. That's an amazing size differenct. I guess Dozer got all the size genes when they were distributed!

I'll second that!!!

So was mine!!! And I would like so add that in SOME things, size does matter! ;)
Cisco is probly close to 50 lbs now, I think he would be the perfect size for a housedog. You guys with the smaller boxers are lucky.

Carin-nice to see you are feeling better today ??
BeckyNC and Clucania- I'm working on the picture thing.:) I must admit to being -as my skinkid puts it-"puter stoopid

Actually Dozer gets it on Pooh's side. I got to see her uncle Archie when we picked her up. He was an absolutely huge, take your breath away beautiful fawn fella. I know he weighed more than Dozer does now but he was so gentle with Pooh,it was amazing. She was so tiny, unlike now-my little walrus

So,here at the ranch,we have a mixed bag, small, medium and Dozer size
I'll get busy on those pics !
