Does our girl have unpigmented third eyelids? With pics.

Hi everyone,

At times Shy's(German Shepherd/Boxer mix)eyes get very red in the inner corners.

I've been reading up on it to try to determine if its just allergies or something to be concerned about, or does she have unpigmented third eyelids in which case if I'm reading everything right would not be a problem(other than cosmetic)and any redness is just going to be more noticeable?

Belle

My baby Belle has one unpigmented "haw". It gets very red when she's tired.

Mali has one 'haw' that's unpigmented and the other has very little. On her first vet visit after I adopted her, the vet thought her eyes looked inflamed and prescribed some antibiotic eye drops. After two weeks with no change I did some internet research and learned about unpigmented 'third eyelid'. Like Belle's, Mali's show some red sometimes. It does look like Shy's.

Cain's right eye is unpigmented. We thought he as crosseyed and the vet said he was fine. It looks a little off especially when it's only one eye..but his vision is perfect.

Blaze had one white haw too. And he looked like he was cross-eyed also!

Chief appears to be cross-eyed due to the unpigmented "third eye-lid" as well! It doesn't appear to give him any vision problems at all so far. Your baby is adorble, btw! Love those ears! lovicon

My Roxy has one unpigmented third eye lid also. It gets a little bloodshot when she is tired. Your Shy is very pretty.

I forgot to mention that also. When cain gets really tired his unpigmented eye gets sooooo bloodshot red.

I was unaware of the name for this, so thanks. The vet said no big deal, and it so adds to his character. This eye does appear more red at times also.

Yeah Shy's seems to be more red when she's playing hard or when she's sleepy it seems. I'll ask the vet next time about it just to be sure though.
