Our new vet recommend this and I was wondering what you all had for an experience on this one. We used Sentinel last year for Fletcher but this new vet educated us that Sentinel does not protect against ticks and only keeps flea eggs from hatching - it doesn't kill adult fleas which means that if Fletcher got one on him they could still jump off him and into our house and infest the house  Another reason to HATE our old vet.

I used advantix for Jake for a while. It worked well for us. Now that he eats RAW and I am switching to a holistic vet we are going to try a natural cure for it. But it did work well for us!!

I would be most grateful if you shared any natural alternatives you come across-I have been looking and have not come up with anything yet but would really like to go this route. Thanks :)

When I find out I most def would. I've heard garlic, but I also heard garlic is toxic to dogs. Once Jake recovers from his eye surgery I am going to take him to the new vet and ask then. Actually I am going to try and call see if they will tell me anything over the phone!

I used Advantix on Daisy, and she had a horrible reaction. All the hair came out where we put it, and she had really nasty looking skin underneath. The vet told us to never use it again or let her near dogs that had used it recently. BUT, she was just getting over Demodex at the time and probably was a little more sensitive to the Advantix than she might have been otherwise. Not trying to scare you, just thought you might want to know.

We use frontline now and it works great for us.

I use Frontline Plus in the summer months. I asked about the Advantix at the vet, and they said alot of dogs that used it developed some nasty skin problems. No problem with the Frontline.

Thanks! Yes, I heard the same about garlic. My last girl always had frontline on her but them came down with a tic borne disease anyway and was quite sick. Then I started thinking if I can find something natural and avoid those chemicals-seeing as she got sick anyway... all the better. So I will let you know as well if I find anything :)

 maybe I'll ask for something different then. fletcher has really dry skin issues so I would hate to iritate that.

We use K9Advantix on Mackensie because of the huge amounts of ticks in our area. She had a tick when she was only 8 weeks old, after she had been treated with Revolution. We switched to Frontline Plus, and she had 2 more ticks in 2 months. We decided to try the K9Advantix, and we haven't seen a tick on her since. (8 months now). I would definitely recommend it.
