Yes, in many (possibly most) countries around the world (not just in Europe ;)) cropping, and in some cases docking, is illegal. In some cases it has been for well over 100 years, others have outlawed it more recently (especially those who've banned docking).

So yes, there are a great many boxers on the globe happily wagging their full natural tails. And in case anyone thinks it, no, there do not seem to be very many injuries reported (coffee table clearances don't count ;)).

There are actually a LOT of natural tailed boxers in the gallery on Boxerworld (including several from the US). One member I can think of offhand with some lovely pics of her fully natural dogs is Wiipuu, if you want to take a look.

Full tail full of fun

Reba is wicked with her tail. The only accidents we have had involve inflicted injury on others, not herself.

She has whipped my glasses off my face, cleared the coffee table, and snacked my legs so hard I that I get bruises.

I was told that it has to be done within the first three days of life or they could bleed to death. But they could bleed to much at anytime in their life so that really didn't make too much sense to me.

We came from Germany where docking is illegal. Many Germans would come to me and say "that is against the law" but we got her from Poland and it was done there. I had no control over it. I'm glad she was docked. She is such a pretty girl, and she doesn't clear the coffee table......at least with her tail.

I would not dock an older dog's tail. I have been looking for a boxer that is all natural. I have seen a few photos of boxers with tails, but not too many. I'd love to have a boxer with a full tail someday. I did read on a website one time that boxer's tails have to be docked because if they hit them on something they will bust open and bleed. That sounded a bit stupid to me.
