Super Boxer
i have a question - does anyone have a boxer with their tails? if so how deadly are they with them :) you know when you come home and you get that wonderful greeting that only boxers can give.

i've just spoken to the breeder we got brandy from re: getting another furbaby and he has said due to a new law here in Australia it is now illegal to dock a dogs tail from the 1st June 2004 which means from now on boxers as i know them you won't be able to buy :( only with tails. we are going to look into it and maybe any other aussies out their that may know can answer this question - does this mean that the breaders of show dogs etc aren't going to be allowed to dock their dogs tails? (the breeders current litter was born pre this new law so no tails)

i am now thinking that i am not going to be able to buy a puppy with their tails docked and if we are lucky enough to find a litter with their tails done then the cost will be way to high for our poor pockets - not that money is really an issue but i hate to think what this will do to the breed. i guess as a pet (or as in our case another baby) it wont matter if they have a tail they just wont look like their big sister brandy or their aunty ruby.

sorry this thread is so long but i was interested in hearing from anyone who has a boxer with a tail or from any aussies re the new law and what they know or understand re: registered breeders being able to dock tails for show purposes or is the showing of boxers now going to amend to cover non docked boxers. i just find it sad that a law is going to change this wonderful breeds look.

I have a boxer that I rescued from a local shelter that has a tail. I love her just as she is. I really have not noticed any problem with the tail. This is my first boxer and all the other dogs I have had have been breeds that have typically have thier tails, so I guess it did not matter to me as much as someone who is use to having a dog with a docked tail. It does hurt when she gets excited and slapps her tail against my leg.

Beau has his tail. It's not a problem as far as I'm concerned. All the dogs I've ever had in the past (not boxers) have had tails, so I'm used to it. Samantha's tail is docked.

My girl Tae has her tail. It's so cute--fawn with about white on the tip, just like her legs (fawn with white paws). When I get home and she's happy/excited, she wags it so hard it makes a loud noise banging against the wall, but it's so cute! We've never had any problems with her tail...except that some people ask me what breed she is b/c they've never seen a Boxer with a tail. I love her tail, especially when she chases it. She'll chase it until she's exhausted and fall down panting.

jezebelle was found by the SPCA when she was 5 wks...broken arm, intact tail. i personally like her tail, and she sure likes waggin it :)
just be careful of what you put on your coffeetable though (its perfect tail-height) i think she broke 3 glasses (cheap-o ones) with her wagging! oh..and watch your eyes too, if your sitting on the ground ;) !

Tails are ok

Hi, Our Molly has a tail and she looks great. Dont think she does as much kidney beaning though. Keeping your coffee table clear is good advice as it can be pretty lethal when she's exited.
