Dobermans, Rott's & Boxers?

I have a Boxer and a Rottweiler and they are both boys. However, my Boxer is neutered and my Rottweiler isn't.

They get along really well, and can often be found washing each other or squashed into the same dog bed asleep.

As for energy levels, because Billy has bad knees we don't allow them to play together too much. If we see it start them we pull Billy out for fear of him damaging his knees.

I would say they are a great combination.

I had a rotti when Mason was very little and he was pretty dominant. As Mason got older they seemed to be on an even playing field. Both were altered but the rotti had been altered later in life - we got him as a rescue and we altered him when we got him. I think as the rotti aged he became less dominant. They got along great.

We had a 5 year old rottie when we had a Boxer pup. The rottie (Sadie) got on so well with Jackson (the Boxer), she mothered him. They get on well to this day. Jackson has kept Sadie young - she has got more energy now than she had 2 years ago! I love both breeds and think they compliment each other. Rottie's are intelligent and fiercely loyal as are Boxers so they fit into a 'pack' well. The best thing for the family was having Jackson to be Sadie's 'little brother'!!!

I think you can say as long as a good intro is done you should have no problem with any dog. I myself got my 3 yr old boxer fm a playmate in a 6yr old male boxer. My male is calm but will play with the best of them but knows when its time to take time out and will tell my girl and then they both relax for awhile. My brothers dobie tolerates my gang but is good. My friends rottie loves my gang. fm to fm I think is were you find more troble then fm and male and male and male. Good luck. Keep us posted.

rotti's and boxers

I have a 4 yr old female boxer named sally, and my aunt just rescued a 7 week old rottie. And she decided that he was too much dog for her. So I took him in and named him charlie, (can you tell i like the peanuts gang) So now sally is a host mom and she is keeping him in line. but in 6 or 8 months I think he will be calling the shots. :eek: Can't wait for him to get big enough for him to really run.:p for now they are two chewers on the floor. Ah puppys!

I currently have a 19 month old Rottweiler. I am looking at adding a Boxer, but not right away. I have several reasons for doing this. One reason is I want to wait until my girl is a bit older.

Rotties when well bred, are very high energy dogs. It's the overweight ones that are probably low energy. Remember, they are a working dog!

I feel that a boxer would compliment my Rottweiler. I've got a female and I'd like a male Boxer. I have a lot to learn about Boxers, but I know a lot about Rotties!

I think a Dobie would be a great choice for a Boxer as well.

I have both a boxer and a rottweiler. My first boxer I recently lost to cardiomyopathy, and he and my rottie were the best of friends. At the time, he was the older dog, and was about three years older than my rottie. When my rottie was a pup, my boxer helped us train her and show her the ropes, so to speak. They remained very close to one another, and when he passed away, my rottie took it pretty hard (it was nearly as difficult for her as it was for us!). She was very depressed - she didn't want to eat much, and she seemed to lose her liveliness (she's nearly seven years old and has always acted like a pup). Because we all missed my boxer boy so much, we chose to get a new boxer puppy. We found a local breeder and our new little pup chose us. Because of Florida law, we weren't able to purchase him until he was eight weeks old, and the wait seemed so long (we picked him out at 5 weeks)! We just brought him home. My rottie has done VERY well with him. She tends to look out for him, and her lively, playful behavior has returned. My boxer puppy just loves her too! I do watch them very carefully, and my biggest concern is that she'll accidently step on him (She's so much larger than he is!). She's really been fantastic with him.

I must say too that it's WONDERFUL having a boxer in the house again. I still miss my boxer boy (and always will), but this new little boxer pup is such a special little guy! We just love him.

Boxer & Doberman

Hi,
I own a 3 year old, female Doberman and a 7 month old, female Boxer and yes they have their fights, esp. when it comes to certain toys, but they have to fight it out to see who the "boss" is. I still don't know and i don't think they do either, they play all the time and get along great.
I was worried about getting another female but things are worked out really good, the little one (the boxer) has shown the older one a few tricks already, .

Rottie & Boxer

I have a 4 month old male boxer Romeo and 3 month old female Rottie, Daisy. We got Daisy a month after we got Romeo and at first she was extremely scared and overwhelmed with him because he just wanted to play with her all the time!!! Now, she's the one initiating most of the play. She's extremely high energy and is also very dominant. She gets her way almost all the time and Romeo just lets her be, maybe cause she's a female. There are times though when he doesn't give in to her and she just sits there and starts crying. They love each other and Daisy absolutely adores Romeo, he likes her too but she is obsessed with licking/cleaning him early in the morning and licking his mouth after he drinks water or eats food. I think Rotts and Boxers do get along well as far as I can see.
