They use to be allowed on the furniture. We bought a new leather sofa, chair and ottoman earlier this year and they are not allowed on those. They do have their own love seat to sit on in the living room and a very nice dog bed in our bedroom they sleep on at night. I let Isis on the bed with me if I take a nap during the day. My dh will let both dogs on the bed if he is the only one in bed.

Rocky is not permitted on the bed. he has two beds in the house. One in the living room and we just bought one for the side of our bed because he is now sleeping in both places. He was technically not allowed on the couch either- but my husband was caught snuggling with him. and when no one is home and I come home from work- Rocky starts wagging his nubbins from the couch ;). But, he will not come up on the couch when I am home- even if I ask him to. If I put him on the couch, he jumps off. Just looks at me like - mommy- you know I am not allowed on the furniture!!!! I am not trying to be mean- just that the furniture is all brand new and I would like it to last for a bit. The couch is now covered so he can sit there.

Nestle allows us on HER furniture and in HER bed.

 I was thinking the same thing about Asia!

Mark and I have a huge couch (it's a 3 piece sectional) and we love it whenever we are lounging around and instead of sitting in her own spot, Asia will come over and sit on the both of us...then she looks at us like 'Hmmm this is the life...' and drifts off to sleep! She seems so comfy, I wouldn't want to move her off of HER couch

Had good intentions that our dogs would stay OFF the furniture...they are so sweet and snuggly that I couldn't enforce it well enough to make it stick!

When we first had Jazz, I had IVORY furniture, so just to make life easier, I switched to a lt. brown shade in a tough fabric (looks like textured suede, but it is made of NYLON!!!) that doesn't show dog hair and vacuums easier!

If the blanket is on the furniture Jasmine and Hailey are allowed on it. Now I will be the first to admit that Jasmine is definately the lap dog. EVERY MORNING dh and I are up at 5:30 AM to take dogs out. Then they get fed. In the meantime, I recline in the chair covered up with a blanket. After Jasmine's breakfast she always climbs right up in the chair atop the blanket (primarily for my protection against those nails) and falls fast asleep until it's time to get up...or when dh calls to wake us up :) Funny thing is even when the blanket is on the couch or chair they both prefer the large ottoman I got to replace my coffee table (they took it over as their bed!) If one is taking up too much room, the other one will lay on the dog bed on the floor in the corner.

Huh?

Do I "LET" my boxer on the furniture...is that even a real question when you have a boxer......I don't think I ever had the choice. More like..."...hey Mush, could you please move over so I can sit down too?"......

Eeeeks well it seems that I'm part of a major minority. Charlie is not now and never will be allowed on the furniture or our bed. Our rule is that neither the cats nor the dog be allowed there. Each of our 3 cats has their own cat bed, and Charlie has a big comfy dog bed that gets moved from room to room depending where we are going to be at that time. Often we even bring it outside since god forbid he sleep on the hard wood of the deck lol.

Anyway the cats are my hubby's and the dog is "mine". It was my rule in the first place (for the cats) so now there's no going back for me. Charlie doesn't seem to care anyway since I spend most of the time sitting on the floor with him lol. Don't tell hubby but Charlie is way softer and smells way better (we are thus far blessed with a non-gassy dog - wish I could say the same for hubby :P)

learned our lesson

When I was pregnant with my 3 year old, I said no binky for the baby and that the baby would never sleep in our bed. Well, first night in the hospital, Haley slept in the bed with me, sucking away on her binky-DH even slept in the hospital bed, too. We knew we'd do the same thing with our fur babies, so we didn't even pretend to make rules this time around. We have family friendly furniture-what the heck, it makes our babies so happy!

I almost answered no to quickly. The boxers (3 of them) have their own loveseat in our master bedroom and another one in the basement den.
They are not allowed on any of our beds or our furniture although I sometimes look the other way when my old senior rescue boy gets on the good loveseat. He can barely hear and doesn't see so well, I think he's had enough of the tough life and he can afford to get a little spoiled in his old age.

Depends on who is looking....

Siren gets told to get off the furniture - but she will jump up there occassionally. I have a min pin who is all over whatever furniture he wants to be on - runs around the back like he's a cat. If I'm curled up on the couch with the min pin - she looks at me wiht the big sad eyes - and if the hubs isn't around - and in no danger of coming home to "bust" us - I'll let her up with me. She's only allowed on the bed if I put her blanket up there and tell her "okay." They have their own bed area - so they don't sleep with us. However - when hubs is out of town and it's cold - I snuggle her big time! Nice of me huh? She rocks - but the amount of hair she puts out is the main reason she's not allowed on the furniture. At my parents house - they let her go wherever she wants....sit on whatever she wants. I keep telling them to stop letting her on their new couches - but my Mom says she's the grandmom - and she can spoil her all she wants. Oy!
