OK, we have our new baby (1yr old very well behaved girl) She sleeps in her crate and stays in there currently while we are gone from the house until we get her acclimated to the cat. She loves to sneak up on the furniture and cozy up on the couch. She is so cute & pitiful-looking that it is so hard for me to move her. Honestly, I don't mind. The couch is denim and already getting that wonderful worn-in jeans effect. The cat has always been allowed on the couch & it has pick marks. It usually has marker or yogurt from the kids on it! I am wondering if I am starting a bad habit that I will regret later. SO, I'm taking a poll. Do you let your "baby/babies" on the furniture? Or do you have a dog bed & does your dog actually use it?

LOL! Guess we know who is in charge at your house! I am also asking b/c I was considering a dog bed for her. We love snazzy things here so I was going to get a designer jobby ($150+) I think it'd actually be a waste of $.

Just walked into the living room and found Piper on the couch & the kids playing in her crate! Now THAT's the perfect arrangement!

I have only had mine for 1 month and I made the mistake of holding her on the couch. She was using a dog bed and loved it. Now she is able to jump onto the couch herself and I found her sleeping next to my husband and they were both snoring!

My vote is no couch. She is going to be huge and its nice for them to have their own spot like a nice dog bed. Although I have to admit, she is allowed in any bed in the house!!

I let all my babies on the couch!!! Some don't like it, but I love to be close to them! Specially Kirby, he is a huge suck, and there is nothing like cuddling to my big boxer!!! I put a blanket over the couch (matches the decor!!) to help protect it from claw marks, dog smells, and slime!! lol!! But I would not have it any other way.

The dogs have their own beds and they do use them, but they are also welcome on the furniture. My skinkids do more damage to the furniture than the furkids :rolleyes:

If there's a chance you won't want her on the furniture later, better put a stop to it now :)

I have my 'guest' couch in the front living room which is a no-no and he won't get on it as he's never been 'invited'. He can use the back denim couch as he pleases and if you are sitting there will wait for you to say OK before joining.

He really does enjoy his dog bed though...a $25.00 cedar filled deal from Wal Mart.
