Do people mistake your boxer for mean?

I was never asked if

my girl was mean and no one EVER backed away or went accross the street when they saw her. Quite the contrary, since she was white most people were intriged by her and wanted an up close and personal look.

I know when I encounter a "unkown" dog, regardless of breed or size, I always ask if he/she is friendly and is it ok to pet. I think people are more receptive to being asked if their dog is friendly as opposed to are they mean. Just like I'd rather be asked how tall I am opposed to "how SHORT are you?!" It just sounds nicer..less like a dig. BTW I am barely 4foot 11 inches..heehee. So when people saw me jump out of my "big" SUV walking a big dog..you should see the looks. :)

But yes, I always said, I wouldn't want to be a stranger looking the leash at my girl..she did get a "mean" look to her when she did the boxer "stance" and flopped her ears they way they should be. ohh how I miss that mush face :(

I am often questioned about what breed Reba is. She is brindle and has a natural tail. Her face is unmistakably a boxer face. I usually get the "It's a boxer, right?" Then a comment about the tail.

Sometimes when they look apprehensive, I tell them she is very friendly, sometimes too friendly, so just be careful she does not smother you with kisses.

Putting the ears back and looking "pittish"

Sadie sometimes puts her ears back and people think she looks pittish. Other than that the only comments we get are when we use her halti for walking. She, of course, appears muzzled then.
