Do you have a neighbor you can trust to feed and walk your dog? I have great neighbors who will take care of my pet's anytime I ask. I also take care of theirs any time they ask. This is great if a co-worker or friend want's to do something after work. Laura11 have you ever had a dog before? Is this your first dog?

I stress about leaving my dog too. I commute now an hour each way. So that's a minimum of 10 hours that I'm gone every day. But he has a big back yard, and a doggy door, so I know he runs in and out all day long. But I feel sad being gone so much. I have thought about getting him a kitty or something. I'd like another dog, but I can't go through housebreaking again right now. I'm gone too much.
So, you're not alone. Just try to do what you can to spend as much time as you can. Try not to feel guilty, although I understand. Boxers are wonderful at giving that sad face that just wrenches your heart.

Thanks all for the suggestion, I think it is his face and my toddler

The thing is we have a 2 1/2 year old too, so sometimes it is overwhelming all the responsibility of everything. My husband will be working out of the house in May, so he won't be alone then. I guess I will just grin and bear it until then.

I think as mommies (I am only a furkid mommy), but we have to put everyone else first. Maybe you just feel a bit overwhelmed. Spring will be here soon. ;)

I feel for you. I also have to work and until I win the lotto (knock on wood) it will be that way until I retire. Max is in his crate for about seven hours and I feel bad about it...although just recently I set him "free" in the house and that was a disaster (he was so upset time I got homes:( ). What I try to do is leave my running around until the weekend when someome is home and the weekninghts are for Max. If I go out on the weekends (nights) I only go out on Saturdays since Friday he is in his crate. Some of my friends think I'm nuts but I love spending the time with him and he gives me soooooo much in return that I don't feel like I'm missing out on life. I actually believe my life is so much better with him in it. Denise

I stress about this too, in fact I can honeslty say I plan my entire day around Finnegan and making sure he is not alone any more than necessary and that he gets lot of play time and exercise

I get up at 5.30 a.m. during the week so I get to spend a good 2 hours with him before I leave for work, then I dash out the door at 5 p.m. no matter what. And during the week I avoid going out at night as much as I possibly can, and if I have to do something I make sure my husband is home on time to be with him instead or I leave work early to spend time with him before I have to go out and then if we do go out I am always leaving early to get home.

I know other non-dog people think I am a boring person because of this, but what do they know. ;)
