OK, this may sound like a crazy question, but it's one that's been on my mind for quite some time. I have a very active soon to be four year old Boxer, who's favorite hobby is to play outside with the tennis ball. This of course means tearing up the lawn and now that it's cold outside it means running around in the soggy ground in the afternoon and getting mud and what little bit of grass that's left caked in his paws.

So every time we play, I immediately have to rush him inside and straight to the tub to clean his nasty paws. Does anyone else have any previous or current experience dealing with this and if so do you have any recommendations on how to help alleviate this problem? I have been trying to think of a way/system to clean his nasty paws off outside on the patio before coming back in, but haven't had much luck.

Thanks in advance to helping me solve this seemingly small problem....

Well I live in the country and it is a common problem for my bundle of joy. :) I normally keep a spray bottle filled with water and a towel by the door. Reggie is very good about standing on the porch while I spray and clean his feet. Takes a little while but seems to work pretty well.

we just moved into a new place that is a new construction, outside the landscaping will not be finished until the spring which means whenever we go outside(about 278 times a day cause vegas is a baby)we have to wash feet.when we come in vegas has learned to sit on the rug in the entrance until i come back with a bowl of warm water and a towel.i dunk each foot ,clean it,dry it,and hes pretty good about it.

The story of my life - dirty paws. We have two boxers and as a result we have little or no grass left in our yard so they are constantly dragging in dirt on their paws, especially Finnegan when he plays with his tennis balls. I just make them come in and out through the basement and I keep a towel by the door and wipe their paws off before then come upstairs - usally does the trick for me.

I thought about possibly getting one of those plastic dish pand and keeping an inch or two of water in it just outside the door to dip his paws in. But the idea about the spray bottle and towel sounds pretty good also. All great ideas so far, I'd love to hear more.

Oh, and it's also great to know I'm not the only one having this problem...

Two words: Baby Wipes!!!

I could not live without those things. I just buy a box of wet wipes at the grocery store and we use those everytime she has dirty feet. Keeps our house c-l-e-a-n

Oh Courtney great idea. We just use a plastic pan and keep water in it. I'm going to get baby wipes!

I keep a towel by the door, and I use doggie wipes if they are really bad. (I don't care for the baby wipe smell on my dog!)

I agree witht he baby wipes, they are heaven sent! I would go crazy without them. I keep them right by the door so I could clean Rocky's paws. :D
