I used to post here many years ago under the name of 2boxerdogs. We have 2 boxers, Didi and Duke, who are related.
Didi passed away this past Saturday. She was very close to 10 and a half years old. She developed an anemia called Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia, we did not know it until she collapsed out in the snow in our backyard a week ago today. I knew it was bad whatever it was. I rushed her into the vets. They did all they could, but her body wouldn't stop the destruction of her red cells. We went to see her a couple of times. The first time she acted like she wanted to live and she was getting a blood transfusion then. The next day, she wasn't too perky but her count was holding steady. My daughter and I got to spend an hour with her that day and it was the last time I got to see Didi. Didi passed away in my husband's arms the next morning. We tried, they tried, she was just ready to go, so we let her go. It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, but I couldn't let her suffer anymore.
