everytime i watch that show i start to cry, the punishments are not even bad. that poor pup I hope she finds a good home...

Want to know what pisses me off even more than them getting such little fine or jail time for what they do??
I was in court yesterday because I had the gall to take my two dogs, both registered and up to date on shots, on LEASHES up one of the canyons here where I live to have a nice time and walk around. Unfortuantely I was not aware of the fact dogs couldn't be up there as there was no WRITTEN sign, just a sign at the bottom with a little dog looking thing crossed out (which I might add I did not see on the way in because I was looking at the road since I was DRIVING!) and I was sentenced to 2 days in jail and a 200 dollar fine. And we were up the canyon for a whole 10 minutes.....I'd have happily left once the officer explained to me why they werent allowed. I apologized profusely and offered to leave immediatley but no. I was fingerprinted, called a criminal and sentenced to jail time with a fine simply for being in a wrong location with the dogs. I understand rules but if there are such rules they need to be well posted.
People can beat, maim and kill their animals and get nothing, nothing at all, and i get that!

Vela you definately got the raw end of the deal. He SHOULD have let you go with a warning. God knows that we have plenty of room in our jails for people like you! (sarcasm if not noted) You are such a poor example of a pet owner....no remorse for your action, poor care and responsibility of your animals!!!! You should be stoned not jailed!!!(more sarcasm) I'm sorry but I work closely with law enforcement and you always find this small minority of personality. I don't see why pets can't be taken anywhere as long as they are properly controlled and vacinated. How do you get worse punishment then those neglectful people!!!!

!Here you are a very responsible dog owner...who got into more trouble trying to have fun with their furbabies....and people can mistreat, provide little or no care, beat and literally starve their animals...and they get a FINE!Now I ask...what is wrong with the criminal justice system in these cases!
I saw the episode of Animal Cops last night....I watch shows like that all the time...even though it breaks my heart(especially the Boxers).I still don't understand why there aren't stiffer penalties for those who try to destroy an animal's life by abuse & neglect, these animals did not choose them...they chose the animals and should do EVERYTHING possible to make sure they live the wonderful lives they deserve.But instead they get a FINE!I think a little of the same treatment would do them better...how would they like to be beaten, burned with cigarettes, no food...water, shelter...and be tied to trees with only 2 feet to move around....in 20 degree or 110 degree weather!Animals offer such much to anyone who has ever had one....and I abhorr(sp) the mistreatment of them...it's heartbreaking!I am sorry to carry on....but it just rocks me to the very core of my soul!

But seriously, that seems like a rather steep fine for not doing much wrong (and nothing intentionally wrong). It's not like you harmed anything!
I have trouble watching Animal Cops because it makes me so sad and so angry at the same time. I feel SO bad for the animals I can't even express it. And I'm so angry with the stupid, cruel people. The laws for animal cruelty need to be much steeper. I'm real fond of the old "an eye for an eye" concept and think anything anyone does to an animal should be done to them!

Vela, I am in shock! I am absolutely disgusted with parts of our legal system. The fine is understandable (though if you sincerely did not know about the "no dogs" rule and apologized and left immediately that would be arguable) but jail time! What about creeps who starve their babies, abuse them or breed them to death!

Vela! That is horrible!! How can something like that get a sentence of jail time?? I am just horrified. Yes, the fine I can understand, but JAIL? I don't think I'll be visiting Utah any time if that's how their legal system runs. Geez, the cops must have gotten all the real criminals; now they can concentrate on the overdue-library-book and the taking-food-and-drink-into-a-department store miscreants. :mad: Oops, forgot about the folks who take off those "Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law" mattress tags. Seriously, I think that is just terrible. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.
BTW, I watch Animal Planet a bunch too. Those animal cop stories are so heartbreaking; and it annoys me that the most punishment they might face is a fine or minor jail time for the most cruel acts to one of God's creatures.

I just saw the episode tonight! That poor baby. I can't believe what someone did to her ears!! She was ridiculously underweight, but what a beautiful face and all the while he is standing there wagging her little stub!! That's a boxer for you!!! She has had such a horrible life! I hope someone will rescue her and give her a home she deserves! If I could I would!!!!!
