Hello all... first let me say that I've been to the vet and they've done tests and we will be going to see the dog neurologist next week... I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what could cause this and what I should ask for from the vet

Monday Morning I found my boxer Thor (5.5 yrs) in the hallway and he couldn't stand up, or at least was having a lot of problems getting his hindquarters off the ground... when he did stand he looked bull legged. He also had Diarrhea (all over the vets office) We rushed him to the vet and they did a bunch of tests, all the blood work came back normal - even the physical exam only showed slight guarding of his back legs/hips. He contracted Ehrlichiosis in the Spring - and since this is the 3rd time in as many months he's been in for different joint/muscle pains they think it might be that he didn't kick it after all. The doc also noticed his pupils didn't dilate the same - one is bigger so suggested it could be neurological... which would fit the Echrichiosis.

After going home and looking at pictures i noticed he's always had 2 different sized pupils, also our other Boxer Loki (5yrs - same parents) started coming down with the same symptoms as of Tuesday night, only her Diarrhea was much worse but the lameness in her back legs wasn't nearly as bad.

The vet called with Thor's blood work - and everything was negative. I told her about my other dog and she suggested maybe they both got into something, but she was going to do some research and get back to me this afternoon.

As of today Both dogs are fun loving and feeling much better - Loki still has a bit of a problem with Stairs - but it took Thor 2 days to get back to normal too.

Any idea's what this could be, tests I should request, odd things they may have gotten into that could cause this?

Thanks in advance for your help

Is it possible they got into poison of some sort? Like even eating a dead mouse they found that was killed with poison? Did they check the blood for it? Gosh, I sure hope whatever it was is discovered so it won't happen again.

We can't find anything... I searched the yard for anything that they could have gotten into but nothing... mind you they could have eaten the evidence. I guess the good news is they are both feeling better, I just wish I knew what happened so I could prevent it from happening again!!

Thanks

Are they left outside by themselves at anytime? Or use a doggy door? Could someone be giving them something? I would hope not but it isn't unheard of. I'm so glad they are both feeling better!

Nope no doggy door - and this time of year they go out to do their business then right back in. I do wonder if they found something in the woods/bush where my husband sometimes brings them to run.
