The mucous could be a number of things. I would drop a stool sample off at the vets for some testing. Parasites can sometimes result in mucousy stools as can bacterial infections. The only way to be sure and treat it correctly is to test her stool. Hope Romie's feeling better soon.

I agree with Flashy Fan. I know that our vet only charges $15 to drop off a stool sample, so it's quite inexpensive and they don't need your dog there just to test the stool. I would take a sample in and have your vet test it-better safe than sorry!! I hope that Romie is feeling better real soon and Ty sends her some boxer lovins!!

Hamburger

My Belle cannot digest rice. Just feed boiled, drained off hamburger for a while. Also, if you're interested in a home made diet try Urban Wolf. You mix it with hamburger (either cooked or raw). I'd try the cooked for a while. This food was a miracle for my dog who had diarehha for months.

Also, if you don't want to try that food, you could try Nature's Variety or Pinnacle. These don't have the common allergens.

If you're sure she doesn't have worms, I'd bet on food allergies.

You might want to drop off a fecal sample at the veterinarian to make sure there are no parasites.

Good luck!

I am having similar problems

I purchased my Gracie in March, she was 8 weeks old. In about May I noticed when she poops, she has bloody, mucasy diarrhea. I have taken her to the vet 5 times since and they can't seem to find out what is wrong. The first time they tested for parvo and that was negative. Then the vet checked her stool and said there was nothing there. Then she gave her antibiotics and some science diet, intestinol diet. We tried that for 2 days and brought her back. she seemed to be fine. Then about 2 weeks later I noticed the same thing again. At that point The vet gave her more antibiotics and then we sent her stool out to a lab to be further tested. through all of this the outcome is she just might be stressed. I also noticed that when Gracie does go poo she pushes for about 10 minutes. She also poos about 4 times a day. Does anyone have the same problems?

I am sorry Romie is having belly problems. I agree with the other about getting a sample to the vet. It has been a couple of days. Keep us posted. Sending some sloppy Feel Better kisses from Nestle and Porter.

I went through something very similar with Boomer a few months ago. He was on the bland diet for a while and dropped off a sample to the dr's office and it turned out fine. We ended up switching his food to nutro ultra and that helped. We wish you the best and hope Romie's tummy feels better soon :)
