I just bought a new puppy and I have been having problems with her having diarrhea and this is the first boxer I have owned. I got her on the 29th of Nov I took her to the Vet and he put her on Antibiotics and it seem to help some. Her stools are not liquid but are still very very soft. she is maintianing her weight but is not gaining and still is looking under weight. She is full of energy and eats well and is well hydrated. She has been wormed. I don't know if I should be concerned. I'm looking for some advice on this.
thank you

Try adding some cooked rice to her food. I gave my puppy 1/4 cup food with almost 1/4 cup of cooked rice and it really helped him. If it does not go away or gets worse call your vet.

What kind of food are you feeding and how much? Overfeeding will cause loose stools. Also if you just brought her home are you feeding the same food as the breeder. Dogs need to be transitioned slowly from one food to another. They all (most) look thin as puppies.

Yep, overfeeding is a big cause for diarrhea. Are you possibly feeding too much? Or did you change foods when you brought the pup home? Or could he/she have gotten into something they shouldn't have (bbq drippings, kitty litter, etc?)? Also some foods are simply too rich for or don't agree with some dogs. You may want to take your pup 100% off of kibb and give a diet of chicken and rice for 4-5 days to give the gut time to calm down and then SLOWLY add a good healthy kibble diet back into the mix and see how it goes.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I have her on Natures Recipe Puppythat has no corn, wheat, , beef, no fillers and by-product and no atrifical perservatives. She was on purina puppy chow per breeder request, but no improvement. Since I switched her to this she has improved her weight some and I did the rice and chicken then transititioned her to the new food. She gets feed twice a day a total of 2-21/2 cups a day. sadly I have caught her in the kitty litter and cat food. I have since fixed this problem. I guess I will give her time now and see what happens.
thanks a bunch to the advice at least I know that I am on the right track in helping her.
