I have 2 boxers. My male is 10 1/2 he has gas (like all boxers) but doesn't have diarrhea problems.
My female is 8 and has a thyroid issue as well as arthritis. She about once a week has a diahrea accident in the house (middle of the night). Occassionally during the day while we are at work. I am not sure she has tried to wake us up. We were feeding Avoderm Senior (for its glucosomine to help with her athritis). We have a great pet store near us with a gentlemen very knowledgeable about dog food. He suggested that maybe she has become intolerant to the Avoderm and suggested we try Candidae Life Stages. We have been on Candidae for about a month. And we are not noticing an improvement with the diahrea. In fact we may have more. I have tried giving her a little pumpkin to help her. I have taken her to the vet but he gave me prilosec and didn't seem terribly concerned. I have been giving her some plain low fat yogurt to help her tummy and some probiotics. We are still getting a ton of diahrea at night. I watch her stools when I am home and they were diahrea but now are getting solid. BUt, for some reason in the middle of the night she is getting severe diahrea. I am not even sure how she has that much in her. I am sure it is her because I have tried to crate her and then leave him out and she is the one with the accidents. Any suggestions? Should I change food again? It is easier for me to give them both the same food. So I would be changing both of them. It is getting cold here so I don't want to have to leave them outside when I am not home.
