Well the vet just called and Diamond is doing fine. I can't wait to see her, I couldn't even tell her bye when I left, I was afraid I would cry. They said I would have to keep her still for 7-10 days, and then said "which will probably be quite a struggle since she's a wild child"smashicon What a crazy girl, she must have terrorized the whole vet's office this morning. I pick her up in a couple of hours so wish me luck. I was wondering if anyone knows if they can give you anything to keep them calm because I know I can't keep her calm that long or if anyone did anything special to keep your babies from hurting themselves!? Thanks everyone

Boo just got spayed a couple of months ago. She really didn't want to do anything too crazy for about a week. The second week we just kept her crated or on a leash. She didn't have any problems other than trying to jump on furniture. Didn't pull at or lick her stitches or anything like that.

So hang in there, it's worth it after it's over.

I recently had Clover spayed and for the first day she looked like hell. :(
On the second day she went down and visited all the other boxers, bit of bum wiggling but soon put her self back to bed.
Of course 24 hr maid service and lots of TLC was on the menu! :lovicon:

By day 3 Clover had decided life was just too short to stay in bed so she tried to conn me into letting her go and play with Portia , the Devil Dog. evilicon.
Oh no you dont!!! nonoicon

So Clover just raced around the place every opportunity she got unless I crated her and put up with that awful barking!

By the end of 1 week I gave up , well my ears did!, and let her out with Portia.

She was fine and I simply checked her wound a few times a day.

BOXERS! foolicon

Well I'm not sure i'll be much help either. Jersey got spayed 9 days ago. The first day home she was sleepy. The second day she wanted to run and play and be a boxer. Luckily I work from home so I was able to watch her constantly this past week. I gave up just today and let her start running around like she wants.
When she'd get really frustrated with having to be reasonably calm during these past days I would do a heavy training session with her. Lots of sit, come, stand, stay, down, play dead, speak, etc. Just over and over, for about a half hour or more. This is much longer than our normal training sessions. It would work for about three or four hours, then we'd have to do it again.

I also found that giving her a nice long massage helped to keep her calm. Just keep an eye on the wound, and make sure it's healing nicely. You should be able to tell by how it heals when she'll be safe to start romping around again.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone, I'm starting to feel a little better about it all. I'm just ready to go pick up my baby! I took off work the next couple days so I will be able to stay home and watch her. The lady at the vet said that I would need to keep her still 3 days at least, she didn't think she would be able to stay calm any longer than that. Thanks for your comments, they calmed my nerves a little anyway :o

Sophie was spayed 2 weeks ago. We took her toys that incite her to play hard and put them up. We made sure she had lots of "chewy" toys in her crate and laying around the house. I laid on the floor alot as she loves to lay on me. We just tried to find quiet things to do and always had "chewies" on hand. The first thing Soph did upon coming home was to grab her bear and lay in her "day" bed. I will post a pic, it's quite comical. It was like she wanted us to see what we had allowed the vets to do to her. When she became too excited I just put her in the crate for a few minutes to calm her down. All went quite well, tho I did feel sorry for her so she got tons and tons of extra love!lovicon
