Well, I just got back from the new vet. He was able to read the old vets tests they took and x-rays that were taken over the last 5 weeks. He couldn't believe the vets couldn't diagnose her or offer relief.

He said everything adds up to cancer and you can see it on the x-rays on her liver and in or on her intestines. He gave her 2-3months, judging on her condition as it is now. We will try to make her last few days as joy able, happy, memorable and comfortable as we can.

This message board is the best and it’s the people hear that make it that way. Even though I have not posted that much over the past 9 ½ years, I have always used it’s many resources and personal experiences threw the eyes of others. Boxer owners defiantly are a unique bunch and have a common bond like no other breed out there. Thank you to everyone.

I'm so sorry you didn't get better news. Did the vet give you anything to make her more comfortable? Are there any treatments?

I just caught this thread. I am so sorry for the news you received. I know it is not of much comfort, but at least you now know. I remember my male Rottie going through his second fight with cancer. He did not win, but just like you said, I made him as happy and comfortable as possible. I know he was happy and he knew how he was loved. Bless you as you go through this. We are all here for you.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts and prayers. The vet said she is not in any pain right now, jut uncomfortable due to the big belly, but will monitor from week to week. I have an appointment a week from Monday. I think I will have him put her on something then, just in case. He has her on Lasix for water loss and vitamins right now and some sedatives for when she appears to be ainxcious (I haven't had to use that yet). I'm having to put her meds into canned dog food and give it to her that way, but that's ok, she likes it.

She has lost so much weight in the last two weeks, I really don't think she will make it a month and that might be really stretching it. She has been eating good and still begs with no problem, but I am affraid to give her too much food because of how big her belly is and fear it is too uncomfortable.

She has been pooing small amounts and it looks like a black tar. When she thru up yesterday it was really dark greenish-black. Is that from the cancer?

tammala45 - I am so sorry about Lizzy. 13 years old for a boxer is a great accomplishment. You are very fortunate to have had her for such a long full life. You should be very proud that you got to spend so many years with her. Our beloved pets get such a bad hand on life expectance. It's sad and unfortunate. I pray for comfort and a speedy healing for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about the bad news, but glad that you finally got it figured out. That sometimes makes it a little better.
Enjoy her while you can. We send out our thoughts and hugs.
