diagnosed with cardiomyopathy

My almost 1 year old Chopper was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy 2 days before christmas. The cardilogist gave him between 2 and 4 months to live. He is currently taking 17 pills a day. At, present he is doing great. He is playing,running and enjoying every last minute he has with us. He himself does not know he is sick.He does have his good and bad days though.He is the second boxer that I have had that has had a deadly illness at such a young age. I just lost another one to cancer only15 months ago, he was only 41/2.

So sorry to hear about Chopper....you've been thru this before so you indeed know how hard it is. Why do these sweet and gentle babies have so many health issues. My Rocky has osteosarcoma cancer tumor on his leg which was diagnosis on Jan 10, Like you said most days he doesn't know he's sick but he is down to walking on the 3 legs but our days are numbered. I have cried ever since I found out but I have accepted it to some degree. I am past the rip your heart out feeling. Everyone on here has been great for prayers and support...he was spoiled before but absolutely rotten to the core now..keep me informed and if you need anything I am only a post away...our boxer prayers to you from Rocky & Mom

Sorry to hear about Chopper. There are many of us here taking one day at a time while our babies live with disease. All I can offer is to live and enjoy each day as if it is the last....take lots of pictures and try to keep a positive out look......much easier said than done-believe me. Hugs and wet sloppies from

Hi, I am so sorry to hear about Chopper. Poor little baby. Just under a week ago I took my boy, George (age 6), to the vet for his skin condition and the vet detected an irregular heart beat. He said George's heart was erratic and chaotic. I was devastated. I lost my first boxer to cardiomyopathy. George is on digoxin now. I hope this will slow his heart down and allow me some further time with him. We rescued him from a Boxer rescue, and he's been the greatest gift in the whole world. Let's hope we have our babies for a lot longer!
