Diagnosed Acne...Help!

My young boxer had bumps on her chin, I took her to the vet and he said it was acne. There is puss and blood that comes out of them. They are not going away. The only thing that seems to get rid of them is prednasone. I dont want to keep giving her that. Is there anyone else that has experienced this and if so what has helped them?

I changed their water and food dish to metal from plastic (as recommended here) and they went away after a short while. My two boxers did not have that bad of acne and my third, Hank hasnt had any so far.

Acne

Hi there....

My Rebbie has acne as well.....My vet told me to clean the chin area with alcohol.. But I did change their water/food bowls from plastic to steel bowls and that has helped..

Bubbie had some trouble with acne. My vet said to use the same products you would buy for a human with acne. Just over the counter cleansers. He never took any medications for his acne and it has cleared up now. I hope it stays that way! I really hated those places on his little chin. I always wash his face after he eats and I don't use plastic bowls.

When Rogue had it we cleaned her face all the time, also we used cooled boiled green tea to wipe it.

A good diet will help with skin issues too.

Yogi also had bad acne. The sores bled and were just plain icky looking.
We used clearisil cream at night and kept his face clean after eating and drinking.
Get stainless bowls (if you don't have them already). It did go away after maybe a month or a bit longer. He is acne free now..........
