destroying things in the house.

I have an 9 month old Boxer, he is one of the greatest dogs I have ever had. It took a while to house break him for peeing and pooping. But the problem with him is he cannot be left alone at home. He will find anything to destroy. The funniest thing he did, was to bring 10 toilet rolls down from the upstairs bathroom and shred them all over the family room. This must have taken some trips. Anyway, I realise some dogs don't like to be left alone. I was hoping that some one might have an idea on how to stop this. He is normally crated if no one is at home, but this makes him more wound up when I let him out. So, I am trying to leave him out more and more, but I just can't trust him right now.

Well, he's just being a 9 month old boxer:D

Krose is 3,5 years old right now but I still can't trust him alone in the house. I don't crate, so I make the house ''Krose-proof'' before I leave him alone. That means, closing all the doors, putting away anything that can be chewed by him, etc. I think, if you're crating him, the best way to prevent him damaging things, would be crating him Otherwise, you may find your couch all chewed in the middle and then wait for like 1,5 years to get it repaired because your husband is too lazy

You dog is still a puppy. Most boxers need to be 2 years old before they earn their freedom.

A bored Boxer will amuse himself! Sounds like that's what your pup is doing.

I am unable to crate my girl, but if I could, I would. Could you plan to play a good game of fetch with your boy when you let him out of the crate? One other thought is a Boxer of 9 months is going to be packed full of energy, regardless. I adopted Tae when she was 13 mos and she was nuts until she hit 19 mos.

Thanks for your replies, I was thinking what you all said about him just being a young boxer that gets bored easily. The thing is we have another dog he normally chews on for fun and visa versa, and they both have enough of their own toys. I will have to try and Boxer proof my house this coming weekend. I just want to know how they pick the stuff to chew on that has sentimental value.

Also has anyone tried those treat trees, I think they are called. You hide the treats in the holes and the dog has to find them?
