I'm so sorry to hear about Roxi's DM. My boxer Jack had DM and I can tell you that his battle with it was far worse for us than it was for him. There are a couple of excellent support groups on Yahoo, I would highly recommend you get in touch with them. Through one of the groups I was able to learn many different ways to help maintain Jack's quality of life. One of the most important things I think we did for Jack was to make sure he was never excluded from our lives because he couldn't get up and join us. We carried him to wherever the action was. We also made sure he had plenty of toys within his reach to provide mental stimulation. Jack was also the very grateful recipient of an Eddy's wheels cart. The very generous donor made our lives to much more tolerable. Jack used his cart for exercise, as well as eating since he couldn't stand to eat his meals. This cart, we call it The Travelling Cart, is now on it's 10th boxer. It has made it's way all over the United States and even to us here in Ontario. I could write pages about how to handle DM but really all you have to do is Google it and get on the Yahoo sites and you will have all the help you could ever need. Dogs can live a very full life with DM, as long as you are willing to do the work (and it can be hard work). I can tell you that the bond you have now with Roxi, is about to become something completely different and totally remarkable, it's a journey that should not be passed up, regardless of the hard work, you will learn so much about yourself and you will never regret the fight.
