I am in need of some advice. Brodie my 11mo boxer boy attends daycare 2 days weekly. He has been there since August. When I picked him up I was informed by the tech that he needed more training. She proceeded to tell me that when she goes into his group to take a dog out he is jumping all over her and can't be distracted. She also said that today he grabbed her hand. I asked her if she was saying that he bit her, she replied well he grabbed my hand, I don't know how he did not break the skin, and it hurt. She was so full of drama. She also said that he makes this howling noise and won't stop playing with the other dogs when they have had enough of him. I was so upset and I told her that Brodie has never shown this behavior at home and does not have an agressive bone in his body. She suggested that I take him to a trainer. The best trainer in the area works at another daycare and has agreed to watch him at play. I will bring him to his kennel next week. His office asked me what the current daycare had offered for suggestions and I told them nothing. These people are not trainers only techs and groomers with basic knowlege. She said that some daycares won't take boxers because of their activity level they only want the quiet dogs. She has a boxer and she thought the behavior adolescent. She said at this age it is all about them. There is also no down time at his current daycare they play all day. Brodie is very active and I wonder if he is being overstimulated. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It certainly sounds like he is being overstimulated. Dogs really need downtime. Constant play, especially with a boxer can cause problems. You might want to look for another daycare. Being a adolescent will certainly have a lot to do with it as well. :)

I have a nine year old boxer that will grab your hand and bring you too the cookie bucket at nine O'clock at night. He knows what time his treat is coming and god forbid should we be late with that. As far as daycare goes they 2 boxers do well taking care of my aunt and uncle while im in work. LOL
