Ok, so Maci is now doing great on BARF, she LOVES it.

I don't know if i imagining it but her coat seams softer and shiney

She was only sick for the first two days but that has been solved by adding mince with the wings.

Her poop is much firmer that she no longer drags her bum across the floors

She has more energy,

Is it too soon to add some veggies as i know she is fine with carrot as she has had that before she was on this diet, i have some mince with carrot and cabbage mixed in it will that be ok to try tomorrow?

Two downsides at the mo is:-
GAS (oh my gosh does she stink the room out that i have to leave!!)
And that she thinks that 3am is poop time:eek:

So another question can i feed her some yogurt yet!!!!!

Yes, you can certainly feed her yoghurt :)

The gas is probably due in part to the change (it can take a little time for the digestive system to adapt to raw instead of kibble - it's very much worse trying to go the other way though!). But I'd also hazard a guess that chicken skin/fat is a part of it. Too much chicken skin gives my guy gas/indigestion too.

Chicken wings have a lot of skin for their size - and compared to other chicken parts. It's also near-impossible to get off (so not really worth trying). Wings are a great item to start raw feeding with - which is why they were suggested. But now she has the hang of things a bit better - and for the longer term - using other chicken parts more than wings (where you can easily remove skin if needed to keep the gas down) is probably better.

It'll get better as you add in more/different RMBs too. Because the chicken won't be making up such a large part of the diet there. In short, there is hope LOL

As for the veggies, since you already know she's fine with carrots, it should be fine to feed. One caution I'd make though is with the cabbage. It frequently causes gas ;) and it doesn't sound as though you could use more of that right now (so do things like brocolli and cauliflower, btw - which is useful to be aware of).

Beware of brussel sprouts too (cabbage family trait I guess) - these also have an unpleasant effect as we discovered the other day. Gas, gas, gas...!

We do not give Toby just cabbage we give him china cabbage, it is the only cabbage type that does not cause bloating and gas (farting). Broccoli is also a type cabbage that causes bloating and contains alot of oxalicacid. The veggie content should always include 50% green veggies, this way they (dogs) receive the most important minerals etc, in other words the more green veggies the better! We have gained alot of wisdom on Barfing by reading many different books. It is amazing what you can give your babys and what not.
