Boxer Pal
Okay working with a reputable breeder and he is talking about waiting to see if the pup's are show quality and one of the determining factors was "dark haw determination".

I am only interested in a companion boxer and not really interested in showing ever. Can someone please tell me what a Haw is and why does it need to be dark????? Just wanting to know, it's killing me, I am finding myself praying that the one that I like the picture of has a testicle that doesn't drop... ouch....

The haw or third eyelid is normally pigmented a dark brown along the top edge. An unpigminted haw is all pink. It can be a little distracting for the overall expression. I have a lovely pup with both pink haws. :( But, he is nice enough to keep him anyway.

You can tell the pigment of the haws as soon as their eyes open.

:)

Light Haws

A wise and dear show breeder has a good saying about light haws:

"They don't walk on their haws"

Don't Worry

While dark haws are more desirable in terms of expression, NEVER let that be a deciding factor in determining a dog as being show worthy or not. NEVER.

Come and meet Copper: Ch PawPrint's Sharper Image

Copper finished his American Championship with 4 Majors and a finishing Best of Breed from the classes and over top Specials.

He also has 2 white haws. Never slowed him down :)
