Super Boxer
On Thursday, November 18, my uncle euthanized his 10-year-old Boxer, Daisy. Two days prior, she had been diagnosed with lymphosarcoma. She was not doing well, and was in quite a lot of pain, so my uncle gave her one last gift, that of a quick, painless death.

Daisy was out of the same dam as my girl Cookie. Cookie is a little over a month short of her 12th birthday. I just found out this evening that Cookie also has cancer. A short time ago, I noticed a firm lump on her right shoulder blade. The vet took aspirates of it, and the pathology report says it's malignant, although they couldn't tell what kind of cancer it is. Cookie is scheduled for surgery in a week to remove the tumor. Tomorrow I'm going to talk to some veterinary oncologists I know about what options we have as far as chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy.

I love my Cookie. Words can't describe how my heart is aching right now.

I always hoped it would be a long time before I had occasion to post in the Rainbow Bridge. Now it seems that my posts will be all too frequent.

I am so sorry to hear about Daisy. I know how sad you must be feeling. I hate to hear that Cookie has cancer. Perhaps you caught it early enough. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I have been where you are and it is not easy.

I know to well the pain you are experiencing. I was numb when they told me Tazzy had cancer and that he had maybe two days left. I feel blessed to have had time to know so I could say goodbye the way I needed to since he was my soulmate Boxer. It feels like a dream today and it was only two months ago he left us.

I will pray for Cookie and hope you have a long time to be together and have a happy holiday with Cookie by your side. I will follow your threads please keep us updated on your special girl.

Kisses and love to you Cookie from all of us!!

There are many people here that have been in your shoes and know exactly what choices, the pain and the sadness you are up against. I cannot tell you anything that will make you feel better. I can tell you when people on BW told me that time is the answer and it will get better with time, they were right. It is so hard to believe and to listen to what anyone has to say about you and your baby:) It just all seems so surreal. Please know we all know your pain and we will all be here when you need to write and cry, scream and yell. I will keep you in my thoughts and say a prayer for you and cookie this evening. Godspeed Daisy:)

Please extend my condolences to your uncle and his family. Having to humanely euthanize a pet is never an easy decision, but as you said, giving Daisy a quick painless death was truly a gift. I hope that your Cookie's cancer was caught early, and that she will be around to celebrate her birthday next year. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Do keep us posted ~ Cathy

I am so sorry about Daisy. I'm praying the Cookie's tumor was found early enough that you will still have many happy times ahead.

Your sweet babies...

I am so sorry to hear about your babies. I know how you feel, I had to put my sweet Pudgey to sleep 3 months ago. These sweet angels enter our lives and change them forever. Be comforted in the fact that your family have chosen to not only take such good care of your babies in their lives, but have also treated them with respect and kindness when it is their time to leave. What more can a dog ask for.

God Bless.
