How is his hydration now? Even if he is drinking he could still not be getting enough due to the bad kidneys. Check the gums, they should be good and slick, not dry, just rub your fingers across them. Do a skin test....pull up on some skin and release. If it snaps back quickly then he is ok, if it takes longer than a second or so he is dehydrated and this could account for him feeling badly. How long since (if any) has it been since receiving fluids and a blood test. What were the numbers of the creatinine and the BUN. There is a suppliment you can get at local pet stores it's called Nutri-Cal, it is in a toothpaste like container. It is high in calories. Have you tried hand feeding? Peanut butter, fruits, corn, cheese, honey, eggs, CATFOOD wet, bacon, anything with sauces....heating food slightly also brings out the flavor which can tempt the senses. Literally, open up the fridge and your pantry and start opening up different food items and offerring them to him...I know it is SO hard but once they get something in their tummy it does seem to get the ball rolling. Have you tried pepcid? I am so hoping that he starts to turn around soon. When they stop eating and feeling bad it is called a "crash" you can help him past this crash. He just needs to eat something to obtain some calories which in turn will trigger his appetite. Wishing you both a Merry Christmas and a better day tomorrow.

Maybe this sounds silly, but I know when humans start to dehydrate they tell them to drink gatorade because it is rich in electrolytes. Maybe you can add some gatorade to his water?

renal failure

we tell our clients to fed a diet of boiled chicken, noodles, boiled potatoes, because you don't want high protein like a/d. but you can early stage renal diets from your vet which are ideal but if they don't eat them then the people food is what we suggest. also you could run it by your vet about you giving subcutaneous fluids at home. this is a form of dialysis, it will flush the toxins that are building up that makes them feel crappy. Like I said ask your vet about the subcutaneuos fluids and the early stage renal diet. Keep us posted and good luck
