Does anyone know anything about cystitus? I did a search and could find nothing, of course, I could be spelling it incorrectly.

I had to carry Sandy to the vet over the weekend and she was diagnosed with cystitus and vaginitis. My regular vet wasn't there, the one we saw doesn't explain things very well, even if you ask. Which I did. She had odor comming from her backside and is constantly licking herself. Napoleon has been following her around like she is in heat, but she has been spayed. nonoicon

What causes this? Is there something I can do to prevent it from happening again?

Don't panic....this is a common urinary tract infection that a course of antibiotics should take care of.....maybe search internet using canine cystitis or canine UTI-good luck

Thanks, she is on an anit- biotic. The vet wants to see her back on Saturday. So it is nothing serious? What a relief. I know... I worry too much, but she is my baby girl.

help for UTIs

My boxer has been diagnosed with chronic UTIs and has been put on a prescribed Urninary dry food diet. She is also on a low dose of antibiotics for the next few months because she has also developed crystalization of her bladder with stones also.
I would suggest to continue to bring her in even after her medication has been completed to test again. My dog's UTIs kept coming back and back sometimes never going away and now that she is on the special diet it seems to be helping.
I will be trying the cranberry and yogurt also, so I will let you all know how it works.
Thanks!

Sandy has not had an infection like this since she was a little pup.
But, when she was a puppy, she had them almost constantly.
