In case you can't tell I am soooo happy. Our boy Cylis came to us with a broken jaw back in Oct. He was not allowed to play with other dogs besides Bradlee until the jaw healed. Well last week he was given cllearance to play. Although his wire will not come out until Jan 1.

So- yesterday DH calls me and says his buddy and him are taking Bradlee and Cylis to the dog park. I was about to freak out and scream no no no! but he said listen he is a good boy and we need to socialize him, he has made so much progress, I am taking him. I made him sware if he got worked up he would just walk around the park and not go in. He said ok.

Just as some background- Cylis is was not socialized before us. Poor boy has had more socialization in two months with us on a leash then his whole 9 months of life before. We have seen major improvements on leash around other dogs.

So DH said we are taking him now (it was very early 3 in the afternoon) so no other dogs will be there and he can sniff and run around.
So while at the park our god boxer shows up with his dad. Cylis and Joey hit it off after Joey reminded him he was his senior(joey is two) and he could not box him in his face.
Then a pit/bull dog showed up and same thing. All four of them had a blast. I am so proud. So proud!!
My baby boy can now go to the dog park!!

That's great

It is so interesting to watch dogs interact with each other. Well socialized dogs have a keen sense of their status and rank in a pack. It is important to remember, especially with a large group that WE are the pack leader. I have stopped taking my dog to the park - there are never bad dogs - just bad owners who do not understand this basic principle.

I agree- I set the rules.
Luckily for Cylis's first day it was our god boxer Joey - who is a doll and very confident and Keeley who is a tough chick but loves to play. Cylis knew in that park he was not going to step out of line. Bradlee has taught him a lot about how to play and when enough is enough.

I am beaming - my good boy - we never thought we would get to this point.

The only part that stinks is I was not there.... :(
