Completely Boxer Crazy
So my DH and I along with a group of friends went to the packers/bears game yesterday. (YAY PACKERS!!!)

We set off for our voyage at 10am and did not return until 11pm. Most of the friends who would normally come let Rocky out or stay with him were at the game with us - so I decided to ask my mom to come over to let Rocky out. My mother is your typical wisconsin, middleaged obese woman who is a little slow walking due to bad knees. I just asked her to let Rocky out to potty and then put him back in the crate since I knew she probably couldn't handle walking him. I left her a few notes and a kong filled with treats on the counter so she could lure Rocky back into the crate. Here is the note she left me:

"Rocky peed 3x, pooped once. Then he came inside and pulled out all of the 50 toys you have laying for him on his shelf. I left them scattered on the floor so you could see what we played with. We played tug and I threw the ball a bit.

Your dog wouldn't stop whining by his bowl so I gave him 1 scoop of food and some water. Then he seemed happy and got both his blankies out from the crate, dragged them into the room and jumped on the couch and stood on top of me. Finally he laid down. We fell asleep for 1 hour. Talk about a nice warm blanket in winter!"

I think she enjoyed it and it made me laugh thinking of them snuggling on the couch. We never had dogs growing up so my mom doesn't know a LOT about dogs, but I thought it was cute that Rocky could win her over like that ;)

Rocky sure loves his nanee!
Just goes to show you - a boxer can win over ANY person even if they aren't necesarily a dog person!

Just thougth I'd share this cute story.

Aww! Way to go Rocky! I had dogs growing up. The last one was a shepard named Rufus.. He had arthritis and hip diplaysia and was in a lot of pain when my mom decided to let him go. I think it broke her heart so much we never had another dog. I think I was 14 at the time. The years passed and in the same year my younger brother and I both got dogs. She had been trying very hard not fall in love with my brother's dog. Then I moved back into my mom's while I finished school and my husband was deployed. It took all of about 15 mins for my mom to fall in love with Star, even tho' she was trying not to. Then there was no denying ShyAn, my brother's dog. When we moved back out I actually felt a little guilty about taking my own dog with me. My niece later moved in with her dog , Wiener. When my neice left for college she left Weiner with my mom. Needless to say this has worked out well for everyone. Especially Weiner!

what a great story. I am so glad your mom had a good experience taking care of Rocky.

Nala is my first boxer and i have watched her worm her way into everyone's hearts too. It amazes me how well they can do that. My mom has always had dogs. But Nala is her grandfirbaby. She will call me just to check in on her and will ask when we are coming to visit so she can see her. We live 900 miles apart so you can imagine that one :) She is always asking for pictures, its so funny. I guess there is a boxer who looks just like Nala who moved in right behind her and this guy loves coming over to visit with my mom any way he can. the owners get so perturbed but my mom actually loves it (so not like my mom) but then again it is a boxer and she now adores them

Great story. Boxers have a way of making people fall in love with them. I can picture the whole thing in my mind. That probably made her day.

Every Christmas and birthday when I was little I asked for a dog, and my mom always said no, being the self-proclaimed dog hater that she is. But when I got Jem, (my first dog), she wasn't too happy about it since I wasn't living at home all the time, but I would still be visiting. But by the second week of being home for summer vacation I caught her sitting with his head on her lap and she was saying "what a good boy" and petting him. He won her over completely! Boxers can just melt anyone's heart.

Aw. That's so cute.

I agree about boxers making people fall in love. I got Dodger the summer before I started law school and I was living with my parents. Well, I KNEW my Dad didn't want a dog in the house, but I got him anyway and then banked on my dad being a big softie. Well, he would not have anything to do with Dodger the first day. The next day I went to pick up a pizza with Mom and when we got back they were asleep on the couch together. They've been best friends ever since. Dad even fights with me every night about whose bed Dodger is going to sleep in. Haha!

I did the same thing with Marlee, but she was a much cuter puppy. Plus the first time I brought her home was on break from school and she had just broken her leg so it was all casted up. Dad walked in and saw here laying in the floor all pitiful and didn't say a word to anyone. Just walked in, scooped her up, and took her to his man cave to watch tv. :D
