Sasha with cushings

Sasha has been on Lysoden in the loading stage for 12 days and still is not there yet. She went in for blood work today to see where she is and how much longer to go. Her skin issue contiues to get worse although the infection seems better. She is hanging in there and we keep hoping things will get better. The pic of Percy with Calcinosis Cutis on the caninecushings web site is aweful but I'm afraid Sasha's is much worse than that. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Mike

My thoughts are with you

I went though cushings with lady also. She had the skin infections also. It never really went away but we coped. We bathed her every two nights no soap just straight water to keep things clean. She had to wear t shirts alot and I made her neck covers so she would not itch. The poor dog. Lady had cushings for two years she passed away at the age of 10. Another thing to do is to switch them to the raw food diet. It seems to help with the amount of water they drink and they feel better.

update on Sasha with Cushings Disease

After 12 twelve days of taking the Lysoren Sasha had her blood tests again and it showed a dramatic improvement in her levels. She will have another test hopefully on Monday and than she will need the medication in lower doses either daily or weekly. Her skin is getting better as far as the infection goes but it will be while before the sores heal up, hopefully sooner than later. This has been and continues to be an unbelievable taxing experience for her and my wife an I. If anyone's fur babies are diagnosed with this terrible disease know that there is medication that can help. The web site caninecushings.net was and still is woderful tool with such nice people to help. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers hoping Sasha makes it through this. Thanks again. Mike, Sue and Sasha..

Completely Boxer Crazy
MIke - I just went to the cushing's website and saw the pic of Sasha...I wanted to cry. I read through your posts and can only image how tough this has been on you and your wife :( There is nothing worse than that helpless feeling of not being able to help our babies. What a horrible disease. I commend you guys on your endless efforts to help her through this crisis, you are definately the kind of owners that deserve the love of a Boxer and I hope you see some more improvement in her condition soon :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We are trying our best and hope that we start seeing improvement with the skin. Sasha has been a woderful dog and we love her so much. We have another fur baby brindle boxer named Haley who is 7 and wants her sister to get better also. She misses chasing her around the yard and playing with her. Mike
