Crying & whining with new toy...weird?

Hi all,
I bought Champ a new toy the other day...it's a fish that makes loud squeaks when squeezed (just a little one filled with air). So he's had it for two days and every time he picks it up in his mouth, he starts crying and whining.
I was thinking at first that he didn't like it, but then why would he keep coming back to it? and keep running over, excited, when I squeezed it to make it squeak?

One of my parents dogs, a golden, always has something in her mouth when you come home and she cries, but this just seems a little different.

I'm not really concerned, I think it's fine, but just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and if you have any thoughts on it.

Can he squeak it by himself? If he can't maybe he wants to really bad? If he can, maybe the air coming out of the little hole is freaking him out when it squeaks? I dunno.

Jersey too

Jersy does this as well with a couple of her squeeking toys. She gets ahold of them starts to squeek them and starts whinning and crying at it. She loves those toys the most. I don't think it is a problem I think they are mimiking the noise the toy makes.

Samson does the same thing with a toy I recently got him. It makes a loud, high pitched squeaky noise. He will constantly whine while he is playing with it and sometimes even howl when we squeak it for him. I also thought that he didn't like it or was afraid of it. I actually tried to hide it under a blanket at one point when he wasn't looking but he sniffed it out and will ALWAYS go back to it. It seems to be his favorite toy?!

My nephew brought over this ball that vibrates and has all these rubber squares on it and whenever we turn it on Harlie goes nuts and whines and crys. We thought she didnt like it at first but i guess she did cuz she would just carry it around in her mouth while it vibrates.

here is my family's opinion on why they cry when they squeak it. brutus has no problem squeaking the cuz, but my bro's english mastiff freaks out when he squeaks it, and he backs away. we think maybe, he might think he is hurting it. it is just a thought and could be whack one at that, but it made sense to us.

It could be that the high pitched squeak is hurting their ears. Remember, dogs have very accute hearing. They keep going to it b/c it's a toy and toys are fun, but the loud squeal could be painful for them.

Just a thought.
