Crying, babying paw?

Yesterday Bianca came inside and was yelping and babying her front paw just a little bit. We checked it out and it looks absolutely normal. She quit after awhile then every time she came in, she did it again. I assumed that because it is cold and snowy out here, she was just sensitive to the cold. I made sure her pads were not cracked or peeling and checked between them for snow or ice and everything looked great. Now, she just makes a whimpering noise from time to time, even if she is completely off the foot that she was babying. I'm wondering if she just wised up to "if I cry, mommy picks me up and cuddles me", or if maybe it is more serious. I'm stumped...

Hmm, I have not experienced this before since it dosen't snow here. But maybe you could get some of those boots for her paws in case the snow is bothering her paw. This way if that's what it is she will stop the wimpering routine and you will know it's nothing serious. Just an idea.
