Boxer Booster
Decided to try a different vets this time! He was really good, in there for 25 minutes and he was very thorough. She has a suspected poorly stifle on her left hind leg, a poorly knee to you and me.

Have been referred to a specialist orthopaedic for a week today. They said there was no point x-raying her now just to have done again in a weeks time. No food before we go as they may well have to operate there and then

They did say that all they would have done if we’d taken her in sooner was to rest her! On the plus, hopefully she’ll be better soon.

Did they prescribe you an NSAID for her in the meantime until you see the orthopedic? If she is still limping, Metacam worked wonders for Josi and is commonly prescribed before and after orthopedic surgery. It sounds like your vet was very thorough and honest. Hoping that she is on the mend soon and please keep us updated:)

Casper's back leg still isn't right. It's not bothering him as much but I notice it.
They manipulated it at the vets and ruled out acl. It is better than it was so i guess I'll carry on stopping him (as best i can) from larking about with the other two and no long walks. We were told it could take up to 8 weeks to get better so i'll give it a bit more time before I take him back.

You'll have to let us know how it goes Rich.

With ligament tears, arthritis is common. Your Milly could already have some arthritis, hence her being stiff when she gets up. My Izzy tore her acl in her right knee when she was only 18 months, and then the left after her 2nd birthday (she is now 2.5yrs old). She has arthritis in both knees. They said the longer you wait to get the surgery, the worse the arthritis can get, and I had Izzy's done right when I found out what it was. I also feel that the glucosamine/chondrotin/MSM works great! I ran out of it, and forgot to give Izzy more. We went to physical therapy the other day and she was very stiff. She also was having trouble doing the water treadmill, even though she did great the week before. I then remembered that I forgot to start her back on the glucosamine. I put her back on, and her knee is less stiff. We are still working on her physical therapy and hopefully she will be back to normal soon. She is 4 month post-op from her most recent surgery.

I hope you find out what is going on with Milly soon. It sounds like an acl tear just from what you have said. It seems very common in boxers. Izzy's orthopedic surgeon said that she sees a lot of boxers, more than any other breed.

Please keep us posted on Milly.
