Creek will not eat

What a tough go you guys have had :( I think we kinda function the same way...my husband usually likes to ponder and hold on and I push through and do the best most logical thing....then when its all said and done....I crumble.

I'm sorry as well you have to watch her struggle through. I always hoped mine would peacefully pass on their own, but it seems more often then not were left with making that final step for them :(

I am thinking of you guys and pray that things would go as peaceful as possible. Hoping something comes of the blood work as well and maybe she can be more comfortable.

I am sorry to read this update and learn Creek is failing. I have force fed many cats in the final days, and always regretted having to do it. Sometimes with the cats, who were in kidney failure, I upped the fluids, sub cue, and that did seem to help. In Pete's last couple of days I also administered sub cue fluids, and he did seem to feel better for a while after the fluid therapy.

It is so sad when they are in the end days, for both you and for them. My thoughts are with you at this time.

Thank you all for your kind words, it helps to have someone to talk to about this.

Bloodwork results came back and as we suspected it doesn't look good. She is most definitely in liver failure. Vet said all of her liver values were elevated... there is bilirubin in her blood... she mentioned something about her kidneys not functioning properly... and she believes that Creek is dealing with pancreatitis on top of all this. Her prognosis is poor regardless of treatment. :(

I called DH at work yesterday and relayed the news after I got off the phone with the vet. It took him until today to process everything and come to terms with what is happening and what we have to do. Reality is starting to set in for both of us. We are currently looking into what options we have as far as having someone come to the house to help Creek pass so we don't have to take her back to the vet. My mom is on her way over right now to see Creek probably for the last time :( I hope that having a visitor will lift her spirits a bit.

So sorry to hear you and your family are going through this. Having recently been through this myself, I totally relate. Ponza did not like going to the vet and though it was expensive, we had a vet (not our vet as they don't make home visits) in the area come to our home in the evening. He was able to be on his bed, surrounded by us in his home where he was comfortable. Though it was so hard, it was peaceful and beautiful, which was befitting of the years of love he gave to us.

So sorry to hear this. I just went through this 6 months ago with my soulful fellow Gauge. He had kidney failure at 6 yrs of age but it doesn't matter at what age they are when you have to let them go it hurts just the same. My thoughts are with you at this time. Hug him and kiss him tell him to run free.
