Creek will not eat

I'm sorry to hear this is going on with Creek. Has anything else changed? We're crossing fingers and paws over here that it's nothing to worry about. Also wishing a happy early birthday

Thanks for the birthday wishes. . Besides her eating habits changing, we have noticed her just showing her age more recently. She has slowed down a lot this past year. Still has moments of playfulness every once in a while but most of the time she sleeps like a rock. She can't hear well at all. The other day I came home from work and found her looking out the front window (for me) but she couldn't hear me at all when I called her. She started having accidents at night recently, no matter how late at night or early in the morning we take her out. Now we just leave the doggy door open all the time, which has been working out fine. She's just getting old....:(

Any vomiting or diarrhea or signs of nausea (drooling, lip smacking...)?

Unfortunately loss of appetite is a generic symptom that can be the result of just about anything. Is anything else off about her?

See above post.... As far as vomiting, she has thrown up bile a handful of times but I have not seen any in at least a month. However she does have access to the yard 24/7... I check outside regularly but it's possible I have missed tiny amounts of bile in the grass. I have noticed her BM's are much smaller than they used to be.

I am glad you are taking her to the vet. Healing vibes for her. At her age it could be a number of different issues.

Well I gave her some cottage cheese for dinner (about 2 hrs ago) and she threw it all up about 30 minutes later, along with the chicken she had earlier. Then she went outside and pooped -- everything looked normal/healthy but slightly soft. Now she is standind a few feet from her bowl staring at it. Guess she's hungry now? I'm soaking some kibble in water with green beans... Hopefully she likes it and keeps it down.

I am so sorry to hear that Creek is not doing so well. Thirteen is a grand old age, what a wonderful old girl she is. Hoping that you get some answers at the vet, and sending lots of positive thoughts your way, for both of you.

You could try a little bit of boiled rice and a dollop of baby food meat or pureed boiled chicken breast. Small portions, low fat and mushy will make it easier for her stomach to work on it.

Make sure she isn't getting dehydrated. Sometimes when they go off food they also don't drink. Too much water on an empty stomach can cause vomiting, but if she'll nibble ice chips you can give her a bit at a time over the course of a couple of hours to keep her fluids up without causing her to vomit

Got back from the vet a little while ago, she couldn't find anything wrong upon physical exam, based on what I told her she thinks it may be pancreatitis. We're going to try a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice for at least a week and see if that helps before we start running a bunch of tests. She also got a prescription for tramadol for arthritis pain, so hopefully that will help with her mobility. Fingers crossed this does the trick!!
