What do you put in the crate when you are gone? I did put a towel at the bottom until Milo ate it. Then I felt guilty that he didn't have a nice comfy towel to lay on. My vet recommended putting a sheep skin rug (from the pet store) in the crate. I came home today and it was shredded in a million pieces. Milo had a treat filled kong and some other squeeky toys to play with..so he had something to chew. Is this common or do Ihave a chewing terror on my hands!?!?foolicon

Sounds like what you have is a bored dog who isn't acclimated to his crate yet. How old is he? How long is he in the crate?

I have a chewer also. I would recomend you not put any bedding in the crate until he outgrows this stage. You don't want him ingesting something that may stop him up and cause serious problems.

It is quite common for puppies to chew their bedding. As Milo actually ate the towel, he would probably be safest with nothing in his crate. You will just have to wait until he grows up and gets over the chewing stage.

Sully has a blanket in there along w/ 1 or 2 toys. He's never really chewed anything up except his toys. He did learn early that he liked his crate though. Usually he goes in totally on his own when I tell him to go to his kennel. He often sleeps in there at night when I'm watchin tv or whatever too...maybe he doesnt chew anything up in there because he happens to like it??
