I have been crate training my little one. I could not ask for a better puppy. MOST of the time he is pretty good. I have a wire crate that I cover with a light weight white sheet during the day. (If he can see us, he will whine forever) I have little treats in there for him to have. A kong filled with food and sealed with peanut butter (he already starts on that before i close the door
. Sometimes I just add somestuff in there. It changes, but I think it makes it fun for him to 'find out' what in there for him--you know?
Try that, and let me know if it works. I am in the process of learning too, so I am definetely no expert.

HATES the crate
My little guy Murphy, 12 weeks old, does not like his crate. I have tried treats, leaving the door open with his favorite toy inside, etc. and he just does not like it at all. He whimpers, cries, howels...I feel awful, I find myself BOLTING for the front door as soon as I shut his crate so I don't have to hear him.
Does your fur baby sleep in his crate at night? Murphy does not, not since I brang him home. Maybe that is my problem??? He sleeps in bed with me or my son and he does beautifully. He just wants to be close and involved in everything.
If you find the answer, let me know. I need help too!!!!

Crate training takes time. Guinness truly despised his crate during the first couple of weeks. He does not sleep in the crate at night either. We usually put in his favorite blanket and a couple toys to make his time in their easier. Now we just tell him to Kennel Up and he goes right in.
Be patient, it will get easier. Also, don't beat yourself up over Murphy being in the crate. I know what kind of trouble Guinness gets into with us being home I can only imagine what he would do if he wasn't in the crate.

Crate training does take time.

loved hers she thought it was her own bedroom. She would go in it on her own just to take a nap. I kept toys ..ones that she could not tear up or choke on, a blanket and kong.
Abigail well she didn't take to it quite as easy but she's fine now. In the beginning she whinned a good bit and drooled really bad.
Each time we crate her she gets a treat popcornico so it's a good experience for her she know she is going to get a goodie. She has her toys & blankie too. I had started letting her sleep with us at night but that had to stop she snorrs way to loud ..no one got any sleep. So now she sleeps in her crate and we all get some sleep. We have her crate in our dining room away from other distractions & she does fine. I feel comfortable leaving her when we go to work knowing she can not get into anything that could hurt her or that she could hurt. We do not crate her unless we're gone, bed time or unable to watch her while home.
