Boxer Pal
Ok so i got my 8 week female to use her crate as her "safe" sleeping place. She now goes in it to sleep every night or when she is tired! (pretty quick learner i must say! only had her for 4 nights now!)
During the night, I know I need to take her out to go potty, but the thing is, from reading the forums here, they say not to let her out of the crate if she is whining or throwing a tantrum otherwise she will do that all the time for attention.
How can i let her out to pee when she wakes up and she throws a little fit without having her think thats how she can get our attention?
PS.
As a test, we left her in her crate with peanut butter in a KONG toy to train her in case we leave for 20 minutes and there is no supervision. And we latched the crate and after she finished her KONG, she realized we were not there and the door was latched. She threw a tantrum and just hearing her cry and whine really broke my heart but i knew i had to be strong. After 6 minutes she actually calmed down! and i gave her 3 more mins after that (just to be sure) and i went back in there praising like crazy! But she was acting strange? like in shock and frightened? I got really worried she would not look at me. But after a couple minutes she was fine and back to playing. Am i doing this right???
