Crate Size

Hello All,
I have a quick question ? I am bringing over my 3 month puppy from Cuba to Canada within the next two weeks. She is currently 17 lbs and 24 inches Long, 14 inches in Height 8 Inches in width. I am wondering what kind of cage should I buy? I was look at a intermediate cage 25-30lbs, Would this be too big?

When we first got Toby, he was teeny tiny, he's 14 months now, we bought a large kennel, one with a divider in it to adjust to his size and as he grew we made the kennel bigger. You only want your kennel big enough for him to stand turn around and lay down. If your kennel is too big they will got potty in it. Our kennel was about 100 bucks but, with it having the divider, the kennel was able to grow as Toby did and not have to purchase a new one. Good luck with your new arrival

Thanks for your reply, Though I am only using the crate to transport her over. I bought one today at walmart which I will send over this week I am just worried it will be to small?

The crate I purchased is 28inch in length 20.5 width and 21.5 in height. I don't think she will outgrow it within two weeks but not 100% sure?

Aww, I apologize for the misunderstanding As far as a traverling crate for transporting, I wish I could help. Hopefully you will find an answer here

Hopefully I'm not too late with my response. Be careful with the crate from Walmart. My friend was unable to use one she bought from there to fly her puppy home. The Walmart crate had plastic clip-type closures and the airline required metal bolts and nuts to hold the crate together. Her breeder had to make a last minute purchase from the airline and paid way too much for the crate. You should probably double check with our airline on any requirements they have for the crate.

Thanks for your response, The crate I did end up sending had metal bolts to put everything in place. She is coming on Thursday I am so excited to see her.
