cracking bones

when cayman gets up from a seated position, every once in a while - i hear his joints crack. it sounds just like someone cracking their knuckles but he's obviously not doing it on purpose.

should we be bringing him to the vet over this?

I've had a few that have done this, they generally outgrow it. If there are no signs of pain, discomfort, limping, etc. and you can push, pull, poke, and get full range of motion, I probably would not make a special vet trip. I would bring it up at the next regular visit, but I think most often this is just a growth thing. (If, however, there are signs of pain, discomfort or limping, or you can't get a full range of motion when you manipulate the limb, I would seek a vet's counsel.)

Thanks for the response! I'll keep an eye on him. It doesn't look painful... and he has full range of motion right after he gets up.

My girl did this as a pup also. Her jaw would even make a sound when she yawned. She did outgrow it.

my pups bones do this too i mentioned it to the vet and she didnt seem concerned about it.
