I would speak to your vet, he is probably totally unaware what has being going on. I am sure that he would appreciate it.
This is no way to treat a client whether you have been using them for a long time or not.

I agree. I bet the vet has no idea how his customers are being handled. He will never know unless you tell him.
I'm sorry you lost your Roxie. It sounds like she had a long wonderful life with a very loving family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Roxie was your baby and you should definitely speak personally with the vet about this. I hope he apologizes profusely and makes it up to your family somehow. Good luck!

So sorry that you lost your baby. I know the anguish you are going through.

When we had to put Ginni to sleep, my vet was fantastic. My vet's wife was in with me, crying beside me. I received a sympathy card and they called me the day her ashes were back. When I picked her up they asked me how me and my family were doing and again said how sorry they were that she was no longer here, and they were sincere. There support and understanding made all the difference in the world.

I say, find a new vet. Even if you tell your vet how uncaring their office staff is, you are never going to feel the same about going there.

I agree that you need to talk to the vet yourself - its not always easy to find a vet you have confidence in and it would be a shame for you to have to go elsewhere after such a long time.

I'm so sorry you've lost your beloved Roxie - sending a big hug your way.

I'm so sorry that you had the added pain of worrying about your baby's ashes. When my Sam died, I worried a lot about his body and the whole cremation thing, so I can't imagine adding issues with the ashes!!! You are emotionally raw for quite some time afterwards, so things like this need to be treated with extra kindness and consideration.

Sounds like you have a rather large vet's office, so I bet the vet or vets would like to know how you were treated by their staff. My wonderful vet sent me a card and then made a sizeable donation to the local humane society in Sam's name! I was truly touched!

I'm sorry about Roxi. I would be pissed! Talk to your vet when you feel better though. He definitely has to know. I mean, c'mon a sympathy card is what? $3, $4? Vet care is not cheap. Add to that all the time you've gone to them and the reason you had to go last. Sheesh.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and for how your vet's office handled it. I believe all of your concerns are completely justified. If you would like to find a new vet, I think they have given you plenty of reason to do so. Whether you let them know why or not is completely up to whether you feel up to it or not.

We lost our boxer boy Ty last year, and I really appreciated the sympathy cards that our vet and even the specialsts who we only saw once or twice sent. Going to pick up his ashes was very emotional for me. I imagine I would have been very upset if what happened to you had happened to me. A little compassion goes a long way in that situation, and I would think anyone who works in a vet's office would know that.

In Feb we had our collie put to sleep, she was 2 weeks away from being 18yrs old :(
Our vets were really good and sensitive with us. We were allowed to spend as long as we wanted with her afterwards and were able to leave through a side door so we didn't have to go through the waiting room.
We received an 'In sympathy' card from the vets & the crem.

I'm so sorry that your experiance wasn't very pleasant for you at such an upsetting time. I wouldn't hesitate to change vets.

I totally agree with talking to the vet personally.. The vet we use has been wonderful all of these years to me... Yet a few months ago my father called to make an injury(she was limping) appointment for his dog and was told because of the thunderstorm we have shut off our computers and are not making any appointments right now.... My sister who also uses this vet was on the phone pronto the next morning wanting to know what had changed in their policies so we can make back up plans for the future and if need be change practices.. The vet was dumbfounder as was the office manager... the apologized repeatedly.. sent dad an apology letter and offered him a free check on her injury and a free physical later on too.. f they dont respond to you in a proper way then it may be time to move on

I am so sorry for your loss...

I am so sorry, first for your loss and secondly for the way you were treated. I agree that you need to speak to the vet about this. I can't imagine that he/she would allow that, ESPECIALLY since you've been going there for so long. You deserve much better treatment than what you received.

When I lived in NY and lost Jake, that vet sent a card and made a donation in Jake's name. (I forget now to who but it was some animal organization)

Here in TN, when we lost our Kayla on 9/8, the vet's office actually sent us flowers. I don't know if that is their normal procedure or they were just being extra nice since we were there ALOT during Kayla's illness. (and as dh pointed out, we paid for another college semester or two for the vet's son who is in vet school, lol) Either way, it was a nice gesture and I will always remember how wonderful those people are.
