Cop shoots Boxer...so sad.

I couldn't figure out what other forum this would be appropraite to post in, sorry if it's wrong.

This is so sad. I honestly cannot believe this guy. Basically, the off-duty cop is taking a jog, and carrying his gun with him, and runs into Zeus, a 3 year old boxer, and the cop winds up shooting him in the head. He said he was being attacked, but there's no evidence showing that.
Who carries a gun while jogging?
How easily can you shoot a dog who is "attacking" you? And why did he feel he had to resort to killing the dog?

Poor Zeus...his poor owners.

I sure hope justice is served to that "cop". No offense but some cops think because they have a badge they can get away with anything, it unfortunate because it gives the good cops a very bad rep. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Poor Zeus, run free little one.

This is happening more often, I recently heard of another off duty cop shooting a dog.

Why are they running around with guns, if they're off duty?

I do feel terrible for poor Zeus and his owners. Hwvr, to be fair, the article doesn't give the police officers side of the story. It's horrible that this dog is dead, but I do wish that the article gave more information.

I find myself wondering if this is an officer out of control or if it truly was a dog out of control and the officer felt he needed to take some sort of action. I doubt if any of us will ever know.

Regardless of the situation my question is still why does he jog with a loaded gun?? What if God forbid he tripped while jogging and the gun went off and killed a child? Godspeed Zeus.. what a heartbreaking story.

Saw this article in Newsday yesterday.........
This really disgusts me since I live in Suffolk County where this cop criminal works. I am sick to say my tax dollars go to pay this guys salary. Sick, sick sick.......................I can only hope justice will be served.
