cooling vest

We rescued a dog that we think is Boxer/pit mix. His head looks like a pit and he has the deep chest like a boxer, which has made it challenging to fit him for a coat.
Now that summer is here I like to take him running with me but he does not seem to tolerate the warm weather well.
Someone suggested to try a cooling vest. Does anyone have any suggestions as what to get?
Baxter would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

No suggestions on the vest, but boy is he a looker! Such a soft face. Definitely boxer in that guy along with one of the pitbull breeds. Such a beautiful mix. Such a cute face!!!

We actually just ordered the swamp cooling vest by ruffwear and also a Kool collar... I should be getting any day now and will give you an update when I get them. Our guys is a really tall boy.....we have been asked if he's a great dane before!

We've used the Kool collars with our girls.... Kilby hated it and prefers to just pant or lie in the grass but Kona loves hers and we don't take her anywhere without it in summer. Although, we tend to just go out for walks/runs very early or very late in the day during summer. Not sure about the vests though sorry.

When it gets really warm, he starts breathing pretty hard when we walk...so, we figure we should look into one of those cooling vests as he live's for walks LOL...Thanks again for all the kind words, we feel very fortunate to have Baxter in our lives, even our cat loves him LOL.

I was just looking into the cooling collars and beds since it's get warmer and warmer as the days go by. Jax pants like crazy while walking around. Sometimes we don't even get to the end of the block before he wants to turn around and then home he pants and pants and tries to find a cooler spot on the tile floor. I'm not sure how well these things work but i'm trying to find a place that sells them both so I can order from one place.

My boy Smoke doesn't exactly "live" for his walks, but they are a daily requirement because he still needs to lose 30 or more lbs... anyhow, I have the same problem, and saw just how bad my boy can get over the weekend on a day that wasn't even hot (like it can get in St Louis)... even a break and water didn't help my boy, so I had to call hubby and have him pick him up and take him home :eek:

Please update how this thing works! I would love to get one to keep my boy cool while we walk, because it is so important that he gets down to under 100 lbs again, and I don't want to kill him via heat stroke in the process!
