I recently got a 6 1/2 month old brindle girl. She was being fed Beneful, so I stayed with that to ease the transition. I have noticed that her stool is very loose. I have done some research and found that Beneful has a lot of filler ingredients. It seems that there is a strong group of supporters for Canidae. I just wanted to hear some more opinions before I made the switch.

HI,
I have used Canidae on both of my rescues with great results. My female has a very sensitive stomach, as well.
They are now on a mixture of Wellness and Eagle Pack Holistic, and are doing great, as well.
So - I am a huge fan of Canidae. But I also think you should look into all of the premium kibbles and see which one is for you.

To Confused to Think of Switching Food Help PLease
I'm thinking of switching Mina's food, this would not be the first time but I feel like I'm runing out of options. When Mina came home to us she was on a surprising low grade food (in my opinion) so i switched her over to wellness puppy which she ate for a month and started not eating after awhile and had no choice but to switch her food and Canidae, which she has been solid on for a good 4 1/2 months now, but she is starting to not eat the kibble she will lick off the wet off of each kibble piece and then spit it out all over the floor. I'm confused, do I change her food or keep her on Canidae? I feel if i change it she will do the same thing to the next food brand. .??.

Usually this is simply a behavioral issue. Do you free-feed her? Do you add things to her food?
Often when you free feed dogs, they develop spotty eating habits (skipping meals, only eating part of their food, etc..) because the food is always there. Or, she could be waiting for you to put something "yummy" in her food.
Many people on the forums (myself included) rotate kibbles every 4-6 months to give the dog some variety. There isn't any single kibble that has it all. So, you might find 2 or 3 great kibbles and rotate them. Just remember to make the switch gradually, over the course of a week or 2, as to not upset their tummy.

Our rescued golden ret. was on Beneful. Aggggg. Most awful yuck ever. He was getting 4 large coffee cans of this stuff a day, weighed almost 100lbs and looked horrible, had skin rashes, ear infections, etc. We switched him over to Nutro Lamb and Rice, better, then Canidae and now he is on Wellness super5 mix. With no meds at all his rashes are gone, his ears are clean and pink, not red and nasty and smelly. His fur is looking so much better and his weight is down to 78 lbs. The vet is amazed at how much of a turnaround the food accomplished. Love and attention helped as well but so did a good diet. And of course not so much poop either. Only switched to Wellness as I can get it locally and don't have to pay $16 shipping on big bags of Canidae for my boys.

I don't feed Mina any table food, I feed her canidae 2-3x a day(she eats more when it's cold) We can not free feed because we have a gluttonous chihuahua that eats everything in sight. And Mina will not eat certain treats. It is just a little Bazzar to me, I have never had a Boxer that would skip any meals especially skip treats. So I understand she is being stubborn but not exactly knowing why. Thank you, again sorry for not responding quicker, I'm new and i couldn't find where this question was. Silly me.

Puppies can be notoriously picky eaters - and it's due to their growth spurts. They're ravenously hungry during the periods they're growing a lot, and picky during the periods they're not. No need to do anything particular about it, just put the food down each day and pick it up after 20 minutes if it isn't finished. Don't feed anything else (watch the treats
) until the next meal time. The puppy will soon learn to eat when food is offered.
With that said, and if Nina isn't a puppy, there are some dogs that don't really like kibble very much and get bored quickly. If that's the case with Nina, you could think about rotating through 2 or 3 different brands to give her a little variety.

Mina is 7 1/2 months old. The reason why I was considering switching foods was that when I got Mina home I had her on Wellness puppy and she was eating it for a while then she just completely stopped she did not eat for six days nothing and during that i didnt feed her any treats, not even any chew toys. But she would not eat kibble no wet food she would not touch the wellness so I had no choice but to switch. So i switched to canidae and she was eating solid for 4-5 months with no problems now all of a sudden i see her licking off the wet food off the crunches. I don't know if i like the rotated Crunchy idea. Im going to have to chew on that one. Thanks
