Congestive Heart Failure & DCM, ventricular arrhythmia in older boxer 8 yrs.

Just wondering if anyone has had a boxer with this condition and how well their dog does/has done on medication?? Since we have started all his meds he is doing much better. The medication the veterinarian prescribed is Pimobendan or Vetmedin from Canada along with the Lasix and Enalapril, all 2 times a day..

I have read a lot of positive information on the younger boxers but he is older and I'm wondering if anyone has a positive story on an older boxer... I know the medication is newer but has anyone had succes with it?? The Vet told us he could go another 9 months if he responds to everything. (The Pimobendan is supposed to be an experimental drug, not available in the U.S.)

Hi. Not familiar with the the meds but wanted to let you know I will think good thoughts for your pup. My boy has SAS, totally different, but has been on meds for years (he is five now) and they have done wonders for him. I will wish the same for your sweet senior. Good luck

Our dog Max has the exact same diagnosis- he has severe CHF with DCM. I know exactly what you are going through. The meds seem to be helping max and I am sure they will do the same for your dog, even though he may be older. Don't ever give up and just know that your doing all you can for him and for that he will be forever grateful.
