Concerns on Potty Training

I am a little worried on confusing our new baby. Since we have had our puppy home he has been trained to go on paper. He has only has his first rounds of shots so we do not allow him to go outside hardly at all. We live in a large apartment complex with tons of dogs, who knows if any of them have been vaccinated correctly. He is doing pretty well with going to the paper when he needs to go pee but not so much poop. I know he is still young, only 10 weeks, and that will take time regardless of where he is going. He sleeps in his kennel at night; he sleeps through the night now and doesn’t have any accidents in there. You’d think hes a horse when he wakes up though he he :) During the day he is gated off in the kitchen and always goes where his "spot" is.

What I am worried about is when it comes time to train him to go outside. Hes already learning to go inside and I reward him when he dose, not every time, mainly when he runs in the kitchen on his own to go. I want to go about this correctly so hopefully it will go smoothly as possible. I plan on starting his training on the 19th, in 11 days. On the 16th we are going to the beach for the weekend, I figure with all this going on I should wait till after so I don’t overwhelm him. He will be in a new place and a bunch of new distractions.

He gets his second set of shots today and the vet said he would be fine to go outside and be around other dogs after he gets those. (Im assuming after a week or so)

Anyone who has been in the same situation, or anyone with a dog, I would really appreciate any input on how to go about this. Do I take up the paper or leave it there? I already take him to his pee spot at least every hour; I just plan on changing that to outside.

Thanks!

Like you said, you are already training him that going potty in the house is OK. It will for sure be more difficult to un-train that as well as train a new way (going outside).
If the vet says he is safe after getting his 2nd round of shots I don't see why you would have to wait an additional week?

I probably should have added that I do correct if he tries to go anywhere besides his "spot". If he starts to go elsewhere I clap or make a loud noise to stop him then take him where hes supposed to go.

I was reading on how long you should wait after vaccinated, this is what I got ............

Vaccines do not stimulate immunity immediately after they are administered. Once a vaccine is administered, the antigens must be recognized, responded to, and remembered by the immune system. In most puppies, disease protection does not begin until five days post vaccination. Full protection from a vaccine usually takes up to fourteen days. In some instances, two or more vaccinations several weeks apart must be given to achieve protection. In general, modified live vaccines and those vaccines administered intranasally provide the fastest protection

Im not sure if this is true or not but makes sence to me. Id rather be safe than sorry.
